Freeze on Limbo

(TheDragon) #1

Hi I am a new mapper an I’m having trouble

i’m using a windows with ET 2.55 and GtkRadiant 1.5.0

i made a box (4 actually) entered correct (perfect square) coordsmins/maxs

and it includes:
info_player_deathmatch
script_multiplayer
team_CTF_bluespawn (invulnerable, startactive)
team_CTF_redspawn (invulnerable, startactive)
team_WOLF_objective (default_axis) located above the axis spawnpoint
team_WOLF_objective (default_allies) located above the allied spawnpoint
worldspawn (all the brushes)

all saved as Q3Map2: (single) BSP -meta

commands:
/sv_pure 0
/g_gametype 2
/developer 1
/devmap “mapname”

then when i’m in the map and press “L” (limbo) it freezes and have to ALT+CTRL+DELETE exit wolf

I am positive that this is the coordinates fault, just to be sure you can make an easy fix if it’s wrong.
Since you use 1.5 version of GTK.

Open GTK, open your map and on toolbar search for plugins - SunPlug - Etmapcoordinator. Open it and just click Set. Then re-compile and test.
I hope it should fix it, cause it is the most common issue, even if you think you entered them correctly.

Dont hesitate to ask, but also, don’t hesitate to search!

Just upadate to 2.60b, then you don’t need to add the coords.

Just upadate to 2.60b, then you don’t need to add the coords.

… not the best idea to solve those errors/problems
… at the end every 2.55 serveradmin is going nuts

(just my 2 cents)
greetz Cambo(y)

(TheDragon) #6

the coords are mins: -20 1044 Maxs: 1044 -20

( the actual box is [0, 1024] - [1024, 0])

(isbowhten) #7

i am not sure if the coords maybe have to be power of 2…
but nevertheless,…
an easy fix is just to type /developer 1 then /generatetracemap
and the error wont occur anymore even if you later remove the coords and compile again… the error should be solved…
IIRC… i had the same problem when i was new to mapping and solved it this way.
actually you also can delete the tracemap aftewards, you dont need it

(stealth6) #8

So that is where we can get them muhahahaha
no more coords for me haha:D

(TheDragon) #9

/generatetracemap

i get an error while typing that: unknown CMD or smt

(Pegazus) #10

That’s because you need to be in developer mod.

Start up your map and after warmup write in console these commands

/developer 1
/generatetracemap

When it’s done write
/developer 0

(TheDragon) #11

It Works, it doesn’t freeze anymore  Tnx

I have 2.60 and still get mapcoord crash if I don’t have em… meh. Also, sunplug doesn’t work because its not generating 64+ distance from map boundaries, least for me. Its easier to just find the point from the largest area away from origin and invert it for the other value.

Well probably if you are having a box map, but real maps are usually quite complex, so usually you get some waste space here and there, and I use always sunplug and everything fits nicely to the command map so I got nothing to whine about. :o

And I use 2.60 (b) too and I don’t crash without coords or even with unproper coords. All I need to make a box map run is to add info_player_deatmatch inside a hollow box and compile. How was it so hard couple years ago.
