I love me some Frankie and I’m so happy he showed the game on his channel.
FrankieOnPCin1080p covered Dirty Bomb :)
He seemed pretty positive about the game in general but sadly he didn’t even take the time to figure out that a gold card is simply cosmetic. He only made assumptions about that part which is weird because the game literally tells you that they are cosmetic.
SD, I think you guys need to put a REALLY GIANT HUGE BIG DISCLAIMER that states silver/gold/cobalt/whatever are cosmetic only. Make people click through it about 10 times (joking). Because the little sentence about them being “bling only” is obviously easy to miss as witnessed by multiple reviews and spotlights on YT and Twitch.
That’s going to be the death of this game…
misinformation because people can’t read.
I don’t understand the comments, but it’s youtube so I don’t think it matters.

Im gonna be honest, the first days i played this game i thought the exact same thing. I think its pretty common since you cant really read about it, except on the forums and the small text ingame.
The tutorial should be required and have a nice long section explaining the card system. It could even be used to try and help sell the cosmetic stuff by showing off the differences in merc looks so that it could still be used to help the game make money while also educating players on their options.
I think it was a mistake to call them bronze silver gold and cobalt. Silver is always better than bronze and gold is always better than silver in anything ever. Also the fact that in this game, lead<iron<bronze, but then bronze=silver=gold=cobalt? This system is really weird. But yeah, it would be better if people just read, especially the ones making a review watched by hundred of thousand of people. They have the big responsibility to not misinform them.
I think I understand what you’re saying in that the cards shouldn’t have been done this way because it can lead to the confusion that higher cards are better statistically. And the game doesn’t really do much to tell you that statistically speaking each card is identical from Bronze on up.
I agree. I don’t really like that particular design choice and hopefully it can be fixed in the future by either decoupling cosmetics from cards like they are (and give us something non-rng at crazy high prices) or by doing a MUCH better job of informing new players about how the cards work.
Explained the loadout system to a level 10 today. They were also surprised to learn that anything above bronze was cosmetic only.
If I had to guess at the core problem, apart from not reading the small text detailing this, I’d say it’s using bronze, silver and gold in the first place.
Who in their right mind assumes that bronze is just as good as the other two?
Regardless of how we all think and feel, there is obviously something problematic with how this is presented and the negativity stemming from the misconception cannot be good for the game.
What’s ironic is that people complain that they’re seeing DIRTY BOMB IS IT PAY2WIN videos everywhere, meanwhile half of the prospective players and apparently a good portion of current players don’t understand the loadout rarity system…
Eh… eventually people will get it. hasn’t been that long in open beta
All of these people who flip their crud at DB apparently being P2W are the same people who are claiming it’s a TF2 clone. And yet in TF2, the same exact items with the same exact stats can have a different colored name, which makes them cost more. So I just find that funny.
hes da freaking frankie… on the side note he did mention that card rariety is cosmetic…
We need hats with stats for money and weapon skins for money, oh an CoD because DB is a CoD and TF2 clone, obviously !!!
What we need is a BIG ASS SIGN SAYING :
MORE BLING BLING DOESNT GRANT EXTRA BONUSES
need different naming convention. bronze->cobalt implies difference in quality (in part not due to rarity) so not surprising at first glance people get confused. be better off with a convention that is less tied to describing quality of things if the loadouts are to remain purely cosmetic.
also advertise and put it in bold that u can buy any loadout directly (as a bronze) and not be subject to RNG “trade up” stuff and all for in game credits (17k a load out atm) no RL cash required
Nexon has an unbelievably bad standard for being pay to win. It will take time to get that reputation cleaned up. Just gotta keep informing people that it’s not pay to win.
In turn those people may inform others who complain. It may take time but we just have to be patient.

Sadly it does. Kids these days don’t read and for many this might be the only source of info about the game. I noticed that many of popular Youtubers made inaccurate claims about the game and game mechanics in general. I think our community manger should engage with popular Youtubers and ask for some informed coverage.
The death of this and every other niche game is the decision to go open beta. Most people these days treat open betas as full releases. Once people jump into an unfinished game it usually leaves them with poor first impressions and that’s the most important thing when it comes to player retention.
I’m guessing we’re gonna hit a playercount peak within a month and after that it’s nothing but downhill.
