Thanks, Horse.

Wow! Thanks Horse! and company!

Good read, thanks a lot h0rse. Nice tags btw.

(kratier) #5

looks sweet, i like the very blunt nature of the Q&A, not a lot of side stepping with the questions

(Weyoun) #6

Great read. Makes waiting for Friday even harder  .

Things I didn’t know: your Steam-Name will be your ingame name, hence there can be more than one Weyoun  . Beware of imposters  . And: you can combine preorder-Goodies to one account. And here I am still wondering if I will buy on Steam or stick to Amazon.

(TiN TiN) #7

Nice, we found some things out we didn’t know before. Also lol @ the tags.

30 fps. Hm. What do some of the other games run at? I think Timesplitters 2 ran at 30 fps. I haven’t played a lot of online shooters… Halol2 and Black Ops are pretty much the only ones I have played in the last decade.

(TiN TiN) #9

Black ops runs at 60 fps, giving it a nice smooth feel. However going from that to Halo 3 which I know is at 30 fps, you do notice a difference.

(DouglasDanger) #10

Thanks for the info. I haven’t played Black Ops in close to three months, so it shouldn’t be a big deal. As long as it is stable frame rate-wise and has a stable client-host-whatever-whatever connection.

(Deadbeat836) #11

Q: How are savegames handled for singleplayer? Are they client or server side? Can you have multiple accounts on 1 game? (like more 1 person using the same PC/game)

A: Server side. They live on Steam. Also, the game is tied to your Steam account, so you will not be able to have multiple user accounts in it.

So I cant play offline? what if I lose internet connection? I lose all my saves and stats?

Im really worried right now. If I cant play this game offline, ive just wasted 50 dollars on an electronic paper weight half the time for gaming because my wireless in uni isnt that stable.

nice read.

Lots of good info, thanks!

Basically, PC players will be able to play through the entire story campaign as a solo or co-op experience (up to 8 players in co-op), but to play competitively (i.e. versus), you’ll have to play in “Freeplay” mode, which is where players get a lot more control over how the game works (can set different match settings, can vote on which map to play next, can turn on VOIP or friendly fire, can play stopwatch, etc. etc.).We debated long and hard here at Splash Damage about what was the right thing to do: let players play through the campaign in versus, or have dedicated servers, and we decided in the end that dedicated servers were the most important thing to PC players. I’m sure your readers will let us know if we made the right choice. J

Good. Sorry to say this but I’m happy this campaign difficulty means campaign vs freeplay won’t be splitting the playerbase much.

(SockDog) #15

Agree, this sounds like a great compromise, no, decision. The whole how do you match 8 people to a new server at the right time with 8 other people… Map rotation and staying on a server is a hardcore win.

Edit.
Nice interview H0rse. Would have liked this a few weeks ago, it’s nice to hear Rahdo explain stuff.

(Je T´aime) #16

I love all stuff i read on that interview, except the hitsounds :stuck_out_tongue:

Q: Will Brink be running at 30 or 60 frames?
A: 30 fps. (Ed Note - For console, should be uncapped for PC, just remember to turn V-Sync off)

Thanks ‘Ed’ but that’s not what he meant. The engine runs at 30 hz.

Q: Could you shed some light on what the “transfer Supplies” ability is for Medic?

A: This is an ability that lets the Medic be a “mule” for his team. Medics have the potential to have more “supplies” than any other class, so if he wants, he can take the transfer supplies ability and hand them out to his teammates. If a Medic sees a Soldier who’s out of supplies and can’t hand out ammo any more, the Medic can transfer some of his supplies to the Soldier, who can now do his own buffs again.

That’s awesome, haven’t heard that one yet.

The whole how do you match 8 people to a new server at the right time with 8 other people.

That gave me such a headache when this forum just started.

(Mustang) #18

After buying an ability can you sell it back (in order to get the credit back and instead buy a different ability)?

(tokamak) #19

No. You must lose one level and regain the level to get the coin again. So changing early is cheap, changing late is expensive.

(Linsolv) #20

Th… thirty fps?

Um.
