I’ve got some wicked idea’s about creating a frag movie of xT in the near future…
What I want to ask is the following:
Am I allowed to record the game in it’s current state, and use the footage in my movie when the game is officially released?

How are you planning on recording it in the first place? As far as I know there are no built in recording functions and I can’t imagine how horrible it would be to play with a program such as Fraps running in the background.

You can record with XSplit for example. That’s how I’ve recorded all the showmatch videos.

or OBS, very lightweight especially if you don’t compress anything.

Yeah, the recording won’t be the problem…
And I know that the game isn’t fully optimized, but that’s the fun about it. I’d like to put some ‘flashbacks’ in to my movie

OBS works best with Xt. I’ve used it to record bugs before and I get almost no visible lag.

Technically any footage recorded during the closed alpha is under NDA, so you wouldn’t be allowed to post it. We may relax that rule at a later date, we’d have to discuss it here, but right now you wouldn’t be able to post it.

Like I said in my OP. I won’t post it now, just want it to use in my future movie. I’ll just record it, and keep it for myself untill you guys have decided if it’s ok to release it.

He’s saying it’s always under NDA, not many devs want to show off unfinished work. He said it may change, but I wouldn’t risk spending time creating it just to not be allowed to show. Wait till the NDA is lifted and make it, your idea won’t suddenly disappear due to waiting.

What Anti & DA are saying is that any footage recorded NOW (while under NDA) can likely NEVER be released without breaching the NDA.

I think a casted show match from the professional teams you invite to CBT or whenever would be the best “first look” at the game. Too bad there’s already some really sub par footage from the RU side already out on youtube.
