Frag You All Later! Back Soon With Extra Awesome!

(Silvanoshi) #1

Dearest DB peeps:

It’s been a couple of glorious weeks of shooting, ‘splosions and witty quips, but all good things must come to a (temporary) end. We’ve had a ton of great feedback from you all, and will wrap up this phase of the Closed Beta on January 20th at 6PM PST. Dirty Bomb will then be taken offline for more features, updates, and fundamental improvements based on your experiences.

Good news for the patient types - EVERYONE who signed up for the Closed Beta at www.dirtybombgame.com before January 15th at 11:59PM PST (and all current Beta players) will get an Early-Access Period Beta key prior to the next phase of the Dirty Bomb Closed Beta on Steam.

Make the most of these last few days of the full unlocked Merc roster! You’re an awesome bunch and we can’t wait to spend more time on the wrong end of your harsh, cruel gun barrels.

<3
The Dirty Bomb Team

It might be nice to mention when the next phase starts, even an estimate, will it be sometime next week, or in 3 months time?

Yes!

I’ve played about twenty times more DB now that its on Steam than I ever did.
A heads up on when we can glue our faces back to the monitor would be OK

Apologies! Yes, it’s going to be a little bit of a while. We’re talking weeks rather than months. We’ve got a target date in mind, but we also don’t want to have to cut anything from this next patch. The date is more flexible than the patch content at the moment ;). We’ll be able to give you all a better idea of what’s going on later down the line.

Glad to hear it :). Plenty of people seem to have enjoyed the move to Steam, we’re quite pleased about that :).

(Floris) #6

Nice, I will have time to practice for my exams, I’ve been slacking lately (and I blame Dirty Bomb)

(prophett) #7

I’m sure we can find something for you to play!

I’m super sad we’ll be losing the game for a while :<

What games will we play together, friends?

Ooof, that’s poor timing.

Yay, that’s good timing :P.

Congrats on passing 1000 posts!

We’re always sad when we need to take the game down for a little while, but on the upside we’ve all got a new update to look forward to :).

Just saying as something you might think of wanting to do, you could have two copies of the server, one that you are working on, and the other that is open for the beta testers to play on in the mean time, Then when you’re done you replace the one that you were using before and run the new one for the beta testers. This will make it a lot more enjoyable for the testers plus you can get your work done on the next patch. Also the time the server would be down would be smaller.

Genius idea, why did no-one think about this before!

(trickykungfu) #12

i dont get it XD

(Nail) #13

it may have been done before somewhere

(souldriver) #14

and to think i was finally getting back up to the rocket roller skate speed needed to play half decent. Cant wait for the next phase.

(Silvanoshi) #15

Heheh, just think about how much easier things’ll be once DB comes online and you dive back in-game. You’ll be ahead of the curve!

Is this new format (2 weeks test, then big gap before next update) going to be common thing? and if so - why?
thnx.
