FPS Stuttering [Please Help]

(InfamousIsolation) #1

So i just built my rig on a decent budget, wasted aound $800+ but everytime i play dirtybomb i have just really bad luck with frames stuttering really really bad.
My specs are:
Cpu: Intel core i5 4460 @ 3.20GHz
RAM: 8GB DDR3
and my GPU is a Radeon Sapphire Tri-x R9 290.

Also When i use Raptr to optimize my game it says dirtybomb is not optimized for your hardware.
So does this mean i should give up on dirtybomb? I love the game and all but playing games like this is really frustrating.

First, Raptr is awful. You don’t need it to optimize for you, you pick what you want:) Lots of people having issues with 290, no idea what it is

Don’t use raptr, its useless garbage… try disabling steam overlay as that causes the stuttering for me, and since we are on similar specs (I has stronger cpu, you has stronger gpu) it should hopefully help, let me know if it works, if not we will solve it by other means.

Try disabling steam overlay

In case you do not know how to do this…

Right Click Dirty Bomb in Steam > Click Properties > And in general tab uncheck “Enable the Steam Overlay while in-game” Option

EDIT: Be warned you WILL
NOT be able to use the steam web browser, view profiles or make purchases in the dirty bomb store with it off i suggest using this method to “test” if this fixes the issue for you if you tend to do alot of these things

It helped a bit not still have multiple sights of frame lag. My friend has a 290 and runs pretty well with it and records perfectly but i dont understand what going on with my rig.

What are your graphics settings? Do you have anti-aliasing turned on? How about One-Frame-Interval?

Can confirm. The spikes are really really bad.

-Uncapped fps without fps config is 133fps in the tutorial and around 100+ in 12player servers.
Tried to play without a config and it would spike alot even though my fps is always high.

-So i figured its maybe my system and i picked up Kroads config file.
Sure enough it increased my fps extremely/ tutorial 197fps when looking down the road while standing near the car. (133fps before i applied the config file)

i never dipped below 144fps in a 12 player server. But the game keeps on spiking!

uncapped fps or capped doesnt matter it wont stop spiking. (tried 144. tried 110 it doesnt matter)

Little comparision (i know people hate if they compare 2 games but still.)

-Playing Battlefield 4 on low to medium settings with 100+ fps in 48 player servers NO SPIKES !!!

-Dirty Bomb seems to run very very poorly, thats my only explanation as to why i cant play this game how its supposed to be. Nothing is more irritating than unreliable performance.
How are you supposed to play a shooter competitively if you have to be afraid of engaging and enemy if that happens, and it happens alot…like every 10 seconds, sometimes more or less in that time window.

Its clear to say that its not my PC since it performs good in other more demanding games,
So i tried to not use a config first, later i did. the problem remains!

Yes before you start with the usual stuff: Steam overlay is disabled since i first installed steam.
Its no excuse for a badly running game in the first place but there you go, No ingame steam overlay!

Specs:

i5-4460

GTX960 (latest drivers)

Win 10

8GB Ram

I beg you Devs, fix your game for the best of you and the playerbase as small as it has become lately!

Other than that, im taking a break from the game since it unplayable :’(

Yeah, having similar issues, particularly in Execution. Turning corners, switching weapons etc causes a small freeze, which looks like a rendering delay more than an actual freeze as my character still moves and can still fire etc. It happens more often at the start of the match, so I have a feeling it is linked to the amount of explosive spam that goes off.

Seen a few people mentioning this in chat as well, so I doubt it is my hardware.

(immenseWalnut) #8

Just came out of a match where this was really bad, and I am now pretty certain it is the explosions that are causing this.

The other team had 3 Fletcher’s and were constantly spamming their stickies, and it was causing so much stuttering that the match was unplayable for me.

Sorry for the late response, but one frame interval is always on, and never tried the anti one yet

Also, I figured but how can we get nexon or splash damage to fix this since they hardly pay attention to fixing bugs and optimization issues for us. My friend told me maybe if I use my cpu itll work better. Nope. Even worse. My gpu is making it run good atleast over 100 frames but that stutter issue has been quite frustrating. Its a pain to play your favorite game only at school during lunch time and you’re about to graduate and then not play db anymore
