FPS ISSUES!

(brassBass) #1

Hello, thank you for taking your time and reading this. I have all the recommended requirements for this game. In fact I have better specs than my mates who play this without any trouble. They run it at 60+ fps without dropping below. me on the other hand. I cant seem to get above 40 fps. my specs are:

gpu: Geforce gtx 960
cpu: AMD Athlon x4 860k quad core processor
8 gigs of ram

and I believe that’s all the truly matters. If not then less of that actually matters. Anyway (excuse my spellings) I have tried many things like making sure my drivers are up to date (they are!!!) and putting all my settings to the lowest (in fact I got worst fps then they were at high which doesn’t make sense to me.) so any advice would be much appreciated.

Hey there.

While you have a pretty powerful GPU, Dirty Bomb runs on the Unreal Engine 3 and such it’s more CPU dependent.
Have you tried a custom config? I heard the configs of sick6 and Typo are working.
I don’t know how far they will increase your fps but it’s worth a shot.
Also, you may want to check if ThreadSync is on.
It can give you a lot of fps while increasing the input lag as well.

Good luck!

As @Kirays mentioned, DB Is very CPU reliant as it uses UE3. And your CPU is pretty far on the low end. From what I found it doesn’t even compare to any recent Intel i3 processors.

So with that hardware you are definitely going to need to lower your settings on almost every single game you play…DB included. Your videocard is pretty solid but you aren’t going to get much gaming mileage out of that CPU.

There are some FPS configs that are an option if you want a high/stable frame rate and you could always lower your resolution.

Thank you, I will start saving up for a new cpu. Thanks
