FPS & Hardware

I’m considering upgrading my GPU to an nvidia 780 GTX within the next month. I think now is a good time as any to have a current hardware+settings=fps thread.

  1. i7 2600k OC’d 4.5 ghz, Crossfire 2x Ati HD 6850, 16gb CorVeng RAM @ 1600mhz, Crucial m500 SSD.
  2. 1680x1050 @ 120hz, modded cfg ultra low
  3. 60-150 fps, avg 100

Having been benching today and I would have to say the 970GTX is a cheaper card with more performance so go for that mate.

I’m Benching when I get home from work tonight! Over 300 lbs! Woowhoo!

i5 4570k
Geforce 760GTX

AVG: 90fps with default settings (high quality)
TOP: 140fps
BOTTOM: 70fps

I would hold off if you can and wait for AMD to price slash the 290/290x, or if you can wait for for a card that has DP 1.3 using USB-C . That cable can drive a 4k monitor at 120htz or better yet a 21.9, and has Adaptive sync without the need for a plug.

Shadowplay > Saving a few bucks for an AMD

(PixelTwitch) #10

right now yes but AMD have their own version of a shadowplay like program in closed beta.
From what I hear it has fixed framerate meaning its good for people that use adobe and the performance hit is about the same.

doesn’t function on OpenGL

The AMD gaming evolved app record function does work very well, it also has replay and twitch those work too. Dirty Bomb as it stands does not, that is a shame… Oh nail I think it does work with Open GL, quake and call of duty are all supported.

I was using this quote
“Finally, it’s worth pointing out that Game DVR is also for the moment limited to Direct3D. OpenGL and Mantle cannot currently be captured, the lack of the former being as much expected, though the lack of ability to use Game DVR to record Mantle is a bit ironic. Though given the low level nature of Mantle and the resulting inability for utilities to hook into it like Direct3D, it will be interesting to see just what the solution ends up being.”

There is also an OBS development fork that implements AMD VCE, as I understand it this is all the Raptr/GameDVR software does, which last I heard is still DirectX only anyway.

  1. Intel Core i7-4770k, GeForce GTX 670, Kingston HyperX 8GB @ 1600mhz, Samsung 840 Pro 256 SSD.
  2. 1680x1050 @ 120hz, modded cfg ultra low
  3. 60-140 fps, avg 90

It used to be around 110-120 average. It keeps getting worse with each patch…

Could only test on an empty server.

  1. See signature
  2. FullHD
  3. Low settings 120-200 fps (GPU usage 50%. CPU usage around 40%). Everything maxed 100-150 fps (GPU usage 97%, CPU usage around 40%)

a little bit offtopic.
does anyone here know about nvidia cards being not very good in ‘color rendition’ because of their lower voltage-dynamic-range that goes to pixels?
i mean they have bright being verybright, and dark also being bright.
while ATI cards have more dynamic range - so that bright is bright and dark is dark.

any one knows about this?

(Nail) #18

never had an ATI card that performed better than an equivalent nVidia, but it’s been years
