FPS Drops

(Rosskii) #1

My problem: When I play DB I get about 150fps and the game runs very smooth. When I play 2 maps in a row, usually by the 3rd map I start to suffer from harsh fps drops. Doesn’t usually go above 5 which is not playable at all. I just stay in the server to keep my points, but usually we lose because there is nothing I can do.

Here is a ss of my fps after the bug kicks in: http://s21.postimg.org/qlmhym85z/20160920023050_1.jpg

The only solution is to quit the game and reconnect. But I lose my score and 90% of the time I lose my place in the server as someone else joins.

I have a GTX 760 with latest driver. Not much point telling my hardware because I know for a fact it must be the graphics card. Because I had this bug and then purchased new computer parts. I replaced my entire computer except for the graphics card. So fresh OS and everything. The bug was still there, except I could last about 5 matches without getting the bug, instead of previously 3. So I prolonged it just by upgrading the cpu, board, ram (weird huh?) But now since the new dirtybomb update I get this every 2 or 3 matches again.

Also, interesting thing to note, when a Skyhammer airstike happens, the explosions cause my screen to blink and the graphics seem to get effected, like the graphics driver is crashing? But the low fps drop does not usually happen right away after those explosions, its a little bit later on, or next map.

Solution? Well you could either write a special .exe which can log my fps value and events and then send them to do you when I test it? Something like that, Or… a really simple workaround, which I would actually really appreciate is a video restart command. In Quake the command is vid_restart… That would restart the graphics engine which means I wouldn’t even need to quit the game. I would be so happy if there was a console command that could do that.

Please help, this is really making gaming stressful…

Hello. First we need more information like operative system (64 or 32 bits), ram, processor, monitor (60, 120, 144, 164 hz).
In my case im play with all textures and details, becouse have a MSI GTX 1080 with 144hz monitor, my FPS fluctuates between 135-144 with V-sync activated; only in some places of maps have 120-100 fps, but the average is 138.

I’ll check you’r temperature and voltaje of the graphic card with HWmonitor, isntall fresh drivers from nvidia experience, if you card is MSI, download MSI app for “OC mode”.

Tell us how was.

Jordan.

If it’s go worst and worst with time and if it only happen in this game, it’s a memory leak issue. The game is degrading the more you play. You have to restart it.

SOLVED… Yeahhhhhh!!!

Turned out to be my joystick, how insane is that? I tested with and without and it definately has a memory leak issue when its plugged in. The crazy test was having it plugged in until it lags, then remove it while still playing and it actually fixed the FPS drops instantly. I couldn’t believe it. So there is a memory leak somewhere within Input device part of the game code… not that you even need a joystick so I have no idea why it even effects it??

Check out my glorious 1.16fps… I have no joystick attached but, I did get an uber glorius 0.4fps before

My solution for it is to restart DB, so it is a positive fact that Dirty Bomb has a garbage collection issue.

EDIT: I tried your solution by unplugging a few “redundant pointing devices” and fps still drops.
