FPS drops, stuttering and misery

(Preemoose) #1

I couldn’t run this game as intended since the moment I started playing it as far as I remember, but what wouldn’t you do for a game of your dreams? My pc isn’t a beast for sure, but at least should run this game at stable 100 fps on low settings but it doesn’t.
Here it is:
i5 4430
960 gtx
8gb ram
crappy old hdd 300 gb(Western Digital WD3200AAJS)
500(550?)w power supply
Drivers and bios updated. Temperatures are normal.

I’ve tried many things, such as configs, reinstalling fresh copy of windows(7, 8 and 10), tweaking bios and nvidia driver settings but it made no difference. Maybe I missed something?

Thanks in advance.(if someone is even checking this forum for new posts)

I check this every now and again.

I have same issue with 980ti and i7 5820k, fps is fine, but everyfew seconds the game freezes for a moment (usually at the worst possible time) then goes back to normal.

Unfortunately I do not have a solution, but I just wanted to say you should not have any issue playing this game with those specs, you have a tidy system there which should run most if not all games at least 1080p medium/high ish settings.

I am currently looking into a solution for the stuttering, I will post anything I find here.

Ok did a lil digging, came across this guide https://steamcommunity.com/app/200510/discussions/0/846960628563773260/ to fix stutters in Xcom. But apparently this applies to all Unreal Engine 3 Titles.

I applied it and no weird stutters or random drops so far but early days, so might want to give this a shot mate!

The engine file they are talking about is located in My Documents > My Games > UnrealEngine3 > ShooterGame > Config > ShooterEngine.ini

Before you make any changes I suggest making a copy of the file and rename it from “ShooterEngine” to “ShooterEngineBackup” or Original or something so if something messes up, you can delete the modified version and rename the backup back to “ShooterEngine” and start from square 1.

And after you have made all the changes in this guide I would also suggest changing the ShooterEngine file to read-only so the game doesn’t change anything when you boot it up. Also Make a backup of the new version just in case.

If you need anyhelp with this let me know, and Ill do my best to assist!
