FPS drop, weird mouse controll, sound problems.

(Vilerin) #1

After playing one game my DB starts to act weird, like none game before.

On 2nd match after few min (1 - max 5) my fps drops from 240 to 180 but it would be no problem on 60hz monitor but game is no longer fluent - experience is like 18-22fps and mouse sensitivity is lower. After another few min while playing on this issue fps drops to 80-110 but game feels like max 13-18 and mouse sensi drops again making cqc almost impossible.

Another step is after 2/3 minutes - fps drops to 60-80, feels like 5-10 max and mouse isn’t moving fluently but jumps on screen and sound starts to break, like on old crashing pc with windows 98.

Final step is after 1/2 more minutes when fps is like 1-4, sound is tearing incredible and when I alt+tab game it’s no way of going back to it. But W8.1 reports it’s running ok (has response).

This means after almost every game I am shuting down and starting again DB - this problem exists since OBT starting days. (Wasn’t participating in CBT).

MY system spec:
i5-4690k
Asus Maximus VII Ranger (z97 chipset)
Radeon R9 290 (sapphire)
2x4GB 1866 ddr3
Samsung Evo 840 SSD 256GB (system & gaming drive)
Roccat Kone+ mouse with latest drivers and firmware

OS:
W 8.1
Latest beta AMD Catalyst drivers

Programs in background:
Mostly skype and chrome, sometimes Battle.net client + motherboard fancy drivers and software (but had same problems with almost everything shut down).
Tested with uninstalled AV software, no changes.

Resources:
Before bug my GPU usage in game is 60% (Now I am running custim cfg with very low settings).
After it goes down to 40-30 and lower.
CPU usage even with all programs and in “final step” is below 50%, same goes to memory.

Few extra words worth mentioning:

  1. Tested on low and hight graphic presets and same results (without any cfg).
  2. My gaming rig never had problems with stability/or weird bugs like this.

Reddit post (not mine) but ppl seem to have same problem.

(misspo) #3

I think it’s a memory leak essie

(Vilerin) #4

I think memory lead would affect all players not only groupe of them, like 15-20%.

try this out

first of download amds latest drivers 15.7. they are no longer beta drivers and have alot of new features

second ingame open console write in "stat unitgraph " without the " ".
check which one it is that jumps of them. the ms you see tells you how long time it takes for each part to render 1 frame, gpu = gpu, draw = cpu etc etc. the higher number is your bottleneck.

later after you got this bad performance write in “memleakcheck” inside of console without the " " and open alter up that file in a txt file or upload it here. and see what it says. you can also create a memleak write when u start the game and join a match, later do one after the first performacne issue and one more after that and so on so on. this file lands somewhere here, documents\My Games\UnrealEngine3\ShooterGame

OK, will try it in 30min to max 2h.

#Update:
After updating drivers I had some error (drivers installed but not completly - sadly report was in html but notepad oppened it so I didn’t read if fully) - for example lost all my previous driver configuration for monitor and games and yes 15.20 brings some new features, last version was 14.5 (it was latest while writing previous topic that didn’t bring any answer).

So far was able to play 3 maps continously without any fps drop, mostly 3ms on GPU 3.5 on CPU and 4-5ms on Game/Frame. After few more games I will update again.

(Vilerin) #7

#Update2:
After 4/5 games FPS dropped, Draw/Gpu are 5-6.5ms but Game/Frame is now 12-14 and mouse feels weird.

#Update3:
Draw/Gpu are still 6-7 but Game/Frame jumps between 14-20 and aiming was almost impossible.
1st 4 games I was top1 on server and at final stage I was unable to aim (even had sound problems also out of game with youtube music playing in background). Decided to restart client.

LeakLogs:
After game restart with normal FPS:

With mouse bug and lower fps - not fluent:

http://speedy.sh/9xMuf/OBJ-Bridge-PC-11-15.39.04.memlk

With mouse/fps issues same map but even worse:

http://speedy.sh/AzHQ7/OBJ-Bridge-PC-11-15.45.03.memlk

With mouse/fps/sound issues, next map just after starting (3 vs 3 and nobody on screen):

#Update4:
I will make better samples now, making log on every map start and few more when fps drops - this might be easier to analyze. Will post them here in 1-3 hours.

Well i think every body got it. I have 150 fps all the time but it feel shopy.
But it doesn’t feel like this 100% of my game. Some day/round, it’s very fluide.

For mouse lag, disable “one frame interval” and lower your mouse hz (500 and not 1000).
DB really have to look in some fix because the problem is clearly not only fps drop sided.

(phila_delphia) #9

Ha! You made my day guys! I have the same issue - since last update I guess. I hope the`ll fix this soon as it is unbearable ingame (4710qm / gtx 980m)

FPS slowly dropping over time from abround 150 to 120 to 100 to 80 to 55… while the framerate feels a lot more choppy…

Best regards

It doesn’t metter if I am spectating or not - fps and frame ms are same.

Hi, your graph is from dirty bomb or an external soft?
We would like some news about improvement regarding this.
It’s an open beta and more and more people play to your game.

It’s from DB, “show unitgraph” in console (ofc without “”).

(phila_delphia) #13

Hi Cruller!

If I have some time I`ll to a little bit of testing today…

Best regards

phila

(phila_delphia) #14

The command is “stat unitgraph” and/or “stat unit” if I am not mistaken.

Best regards

phila

(Vilerin) #15

Yeah “stat unitgraph” like fatcamp said

(misspo) #16

Hi, at this moment for me it looked like that:

with my fps locked at 143fps 144hz
Not to much lag…Some time it go up and my GPU up too(>1).
It was not fluide but i got really worse

(misspo) #17

But some time it do that and it’s very not fluide. It give me chopy gameplay:

When things start to go upside down or at the same line:

Dev, how can i fix it?

(phila_delphia) #18

[quote=“heartsickCruller;44828”]Yeah “stat unitgraph” like fatcamp said

Hi there! When you start out with 180 to 240 FPS, how stressed is you CPU?

I found out that mine is above or around 93% this. Then if some background process kicks in this might be the reason for the drops…

I am not sure of course. I´ll keep an eye on that. As I did not have those issues post patch…

Smoothing the framerate around 100 FPS took stress of the CPU. Now the game seems to run better.

I`ll report back

Best regards

phila

(Vilerin) #19

It’s around 63%, and when you are not running any rendering program in background it will not affect your gameplay because all gpu usage is transfered only on what you see on the screen…

CPU around 50%.

(tickledAccess) #20

Bump.
I have this same problem with the audio lag and framerate dropping, both getting worse over time and requiring a reboot of the game. Usually have to reboot every 2-3 games or so. It’s not just the game that gets the audio lag, even if I run a youtube vid at the same time it’s sound lags too.
Updating Realtek HD Audio drivers didn’t help. All drivers up to date.

My specs:
OS: Win7 Ultimate
CPU: Intel Core i7-3770 3,40GHz
GPU: GeForce GTX 570 (latest driver 353.30)
