FPS drop out

(TR_Kama) #1

Gigabyte Z97X-Gaming 5
Intel Core I7 4790K 4.0ghz
16gb Corsair Vengeance Pro DDR3 2400Mhz
Asus GeForce GTX 970 4gb Strix OC
Windows 10 x64 Home Edition

And yet im suffering so much with FPS drops, i did get a fix and was running fine for a few days then the recent update happened and now im back to square one again with FPS between 10 & 30

Ingame i have set everything to off in advance visuals set graphics to minimal or Low, changed my screen ratio to 4:3 and res to 800x600 (i think) and nothing fixes it.

i have Overclocked my GPU Clock & Memory Clock also

i even made an Autoexec.cfg with some help from my clan friends which includes

BloomSize 0
FogDensity 0
ColorGrading 2
RawInputUpdateTest true
PostProcessAAType 0
SetFOVSensitivityScale 0.02
hudturnoff minimap
Stat FPS
texturepoolsize 1

my main menu FPS is fine between 60 and 100 FPS just my ingame FPS suffers big time

Any tips on what can be done.

The game mechanics need addressing big time this is the only ONLY game i suffer from poor optimization

i5 3230m 2.6ghz, 8gb ram, geforce gt 720m here, I run with minimal setting with hd material ON (to make the guns look better) and I believe borderless helps a little bit. Approximately 20-40 fps ingame (up to 50-60 when not in a combat, could drop to 20 or lower when airstriking).

  • With hd material OFF does improve the fps slightly for me

Definitely not a very good pc, but it worked great in BF4 with medium (or low, forgot) setting and everything looks cool (better than DB in low setting), so I really don’t get why the fps is so low and laggy in DB even with minimal setting.

I’m not really sure if it’s my pc or the game, I’ve thought of buying a new gaming laptop for it. But now I saw your specs and still have the same situation with me, that’s kinda sad and I think there are some problems with the game.

PS: with the custom configs will definitely improve the fps (at least for me), but the graphic will look like shit and I don’t think you’ll appreciate it since you have a good pc. Anyway here’s the link

Please also let me know if you’ve done something to improve it or if I should upgrade the pc for the game.

I don’t think dirty bomb supports the GTX 970 graphics card that well as I use it too and also suffer some frame drops in-game. I’ve seen and heard other youtubers complain that dirty bomb gives them bad frame drops with the 970 and 980 graphics cards.

My frame drops aren’t that bad (and frequent) though. How bad are yours?

i’am with a gtx 770 i7 and 16 Go ram and i’am not getting an fps drop  maybe try to update the drivers or try to let nividia geforce experience optimise the game ( i play in high )

well i just played 2 obj rounds with FPS between 15 and 20 lol

I think you are right DB dont support 900 series nvidia which is a shame its a £300 GPU and i cant get my moneys worth from a low spec game

GPU drivers btw are up to date

I had some issues with FPS drops on Unreal Engine 3 games, weirdly enough, they all disappeared after I’ve reinstalled my OS completely. Nothing else worked.
Now, I’m not saying you should all do the same (it’s really pain in the ass to redownload everything), but there might be some UE3 issue. I have GTX 770, i5 4690 and 8GB RAM

@Tom well thats good for that youtuber, sadly for him db is cpu heavy so ur gpu will have little influence.

Lmao

Contacted Splash Damage and one of the Dev team fixed this problem for me

(bushyg) #10

@Kama tell us more?

(DarkMatterMatt) #11

You can help everyone else with your problem if you say how they helped you fix your problem. Saying that you ‘just fixed it’ doesn’t help anyone else.

(DarkMatterMatt) #12

I’m using it with high settings (light rays and glare turned off) and I get 60 - 80 fps.

(wistfulCanoe) #13

Maybe the game is amd-favored?? I get over 90 and 100 fps on min settings, and i go into console and type “texturepoolsize 1” my buddies to the same, and they are on intel/nvidia machines and still get fps drops?

(Nibbles02) #14

It seems to support my 4GB GTX 960 though, not sure why it wouldn’t support a 4GB GTX 970, especially when the GTX 970 is faster. Have you guys disabled thread sync and associated visual effects? It could also be your CPU/APU or your RAM, or even your driver versions.

It would help if you ran a DirectX diagnostic(Dxdiag.exe) and posted the result here.

from Alphabeta

Check your ThreadSync setting in-game (at the bottom of Video settings). Some updates will over-write your config and turn this to “On” resulting in a huge FPS drop. You want it set to “Off”

^^ basically thats it and my FPS jumped to 60+FPS

(Nibbles02) #16

That would be it, thread sync uses your visual processor to reduce input delay, which you can see with stat fps in the console. For me, it’s just a 2-8ms reduction.

(TR_Kama) #17

sorry i didnt reply sooner i was testing it out to see if it was constant, and it is constant

(solace_) #18

can confirm. Disabling thread sync returned my FPS from 13-90 to 60-130. Thanks for the advice guys.

Im running a 290x(full custome water loop)
And 4790k with 32 gb ram dual booting windows 7 and win 10
Windows 7 running catalyst 15.73 drivers (crimson screws up the hdcp on windows media center)
And latest beta build of crimson drivers in windows 10
All ssd system
Using a 14rhz pannel

And it starts off fine giving me over well 144fps on ultra settings and some times dwindles down to 80-90fps on both systems after playing a while. no thermal throttling as its water cooled and after burner shows every thing is normal ag far as usage

My kid has same setup as me except 8 gb ram and windows 8.1 and db is on a spinning disk but keeps turning steam overlay fps counter off so he doesnt know his fps count

currently running i7-6700K @ 4GHz, RX 480 8GB, 4x8GB +@ 3GHz (8GB on ASUS Ram Cache) and screen is tearing at 80+fps. Been trying from medium to low graphic configs here and there but FreeSync doesn’t seem to be working too well for me… still fidgeting with stuff
