Founders Tower & Labs (Spoilers)

(GLUGLUG) #21

I’d say that LABS is gonna involve the bio sample from CC. I want to say that the Resistance would be trying to
break in and steal it back, but I’m more sure that Res. will be attacking on Founders Tower.
So I doubt that they will be the attackers on BOTH new maps. So maybe Chen has a force waiting on the chopper that stole it from CC and they will actually be defending the labs in order to keep Security from finding out what it is (getting it to the labs for research).

Good point. It does make sense that Res would be Taking the Fight to the Founders Tower. But it could also be a Security mission. Like, the Res already broke into the Tower, and now Security must get in, and get something out.

(Overgear) #23

Founders tower will be the first map where both teams attack and defend in the same map.

Resistance do objectives to get in the front door and get to the top floor and when there, the security have to escort a founder down to the bottom floor. Or maybe three founders who have one health bar thats 3x bigger than standard VIP.

It’ll revolutionise FPSes forever.

(tokamak) #24

That’s absolutely retarded. In stopwatch Resistance would have to delay their attack on purpose before they attack so the security will set a longer time.

The biggest parkour fest happens inside the hall of security tower.

(Overgear) #25

No silly, they swap around after they both A/D so the teams A/D then stopwatch switch happens to D/A
You just aren’t seeing the scope here.

DLC come out soon :frowning:

Right gotcha. Just two mini maps then. Yai, revolution.

Doesn’t sound half-bad.

(Overgear) #29

Same map but backwards, like Sec Tower.
Tokamaks gonna Tokka.

At least Wolf can see my vision.

I’m on board for that, with a couple of balancing changes. Not 100% on the 3 founders idea, though.

I’ve been saying for a while that we either need neutral objectives or simultaneous/parallel objectives that present an offense and defense participation.

Not exactly simplifying the game, but a great challenge for us regular players!

You still treat them like two completely separate maps. You just rehash them.

I’ve been saying for a while that we either need neutral objectives or simultaneous/parallel objectives that present an offense and defense participation.

What makes objective gampeplay so appealing is that both teams can commit everything to one goal and don’t have to divide between two. That will lead to a far great effort on both sides and thus result in far more exciting teamplay. Two teams with conflicting interests clash around the same objective fighting tooth and claw over it. That won’t happen in any other mode.

It’s just such simplistic thinking. “Hm, what would be more fun than fighting over an objective? Wait! I know MOAR OBJECTIVES! MOAR MOAR MOAR!!!”

Well, that covers the neutral objective. You make a valid point tok, but commiting to only one goal is not necessarily required for exciting gameplay.

Shifting focus on different objectives allows a team to work on being a more cohesive unit. I realise we have shortcuts to open and CPs to capture, but what about differing objectives that impact the actual outcome of the opposing forces objective?

For instance: fixing a crane that then shifts the opposing teams objective to a different location? planting a HE charge on a comm to hack, perhaps creating an engie objective to repair another system?

And what about creating objectives that can be done by using our purchased abilities? e.g. satchel charges or mines on mainlines? Hack a permanent turret to shoot down a vehicle or building? Throwing a lazarus grenade over a wall to get a hostage up to open a door?

OK, I’m goin on a tangent here. All I’m saying is I love when people think they’ve got their map on lockdown and then someone opens a can of worms to scatter them.

(tokamak) #33

On the contrary! You force them to split up!

(Zekariah) #34

Creating a team that uses communitive skills, map knowledge and organisation.

Isn’t that what Brink is all about?

(matsy) #35

I hope the two new maps add a new objective mechanic of some sort or a different process and no hack objectives.

(Mustang) #36

Aww man, I was expecting spoilers, not theories

Yes and having them divide and spread out is an obstacle to that.

(Zekariah) #38

I just can’t agree with you on that, tok.

Yes, it’s an obstacle. But not the way you are saying.

Successfully holding a match together on multiple, simultaneous objectives is a creative challenge for any good team. Yes, noobs may be out of their depth, but they also are given greater opportunities to contribute, other than being spawn-camped.

Container City is a great example of this. It’s a spawn-campers dream there. Bar defending the gate, there are no other challenges to focus on. But a good team could defend the gate while offensively sending part of their team to another objective.

And it opens up opportunities for Security to break through to the gate or branch off to affect another objective.

Dammit…another long-winded post.
Theories ≠ spoilers.

You can see the entrance of the founders tower in the first teaser.
i am guessing here but if you look at the stats site, i imagined the map, there are wierd looking blob buildings on the map right out side the tower, so iam guessing stage one is outside of it and i guess the soldiers blow the door
I just can’t agree with you on that, tok.

Forcing a team to divide makes the game more random. It becomes a form of rock paper scissors where you divide the amount of players over each objective before you know how the other team will do it.

If all eyes are on the same thing you have all players involved, they all contribute something and everyone is thinking and striving over the same goal. No random bouts of (bad) luck, just your wits against the other.
