What is more fun - get a merc immediately, or unlock it through the in-game performance achievements?

Founder’s Mercs are in-game characters with exclusive outfits to denote their unique status. All Founder’s Mercs will be available when the game launches. The only way to get the Founder’s Mercs is via the Founder’s Packages and will be never available by other means.

Well, you guys are simply wrong, take a look here:

I suggest to read a bit more carefully Falcon, since both your quotes say the same thing.
And that is that a Founder’s Merc is a merc with an exclusive outfit.
So to have a Founder’s Merc you have to get a Founder’s package to get the skin to get a Founder’s Merc.
The Mercs that the skins are for however can be unlocked by everyone.

Only thing it doesn’t say is if you have to unlock the Mercs first to apply the Founder’s outfits, or that you also get instant access to the Mercs.

You’re partially right, yet common practice is to refer to these as “founder mercs” and furthermore it’s questionable if different classification makes sense, since the only difference is an outfit. For those, who cares - it will matter, for me it just does not. Yet still obviously the thread is about both the funder_mercs and mercs(which is the same thing despite visual difference, thence since all the rest is intact - we could reference it same way to discuss unlockability for both classes, if you really want to imagine them as separate classes.)

Anyway - thank you for your reply, I should indeed have called them precisely “mercs” and “founder mercs” with additional explanation since “mercs” would be by default “founder merc”, assuming not everybody have read the thread-inspiration, from which I get the Badman quote.

personally, I think if the Founder’s mercs were to be open for non-Founders…then it should be achieved through progression or completion of goals.
