Forum getting slower?

(]UBC[ McNite) #1

Just wondering… when i m letting the databases at work start doing the evaluations I always have some minutes, so i have a quick look at this forum to see what s going on, and it seems things are slowing down seriously lately :frowning: not much interesting to read, no hot discussions etc.
Are you guys all mapping for other games or do you just have no problems :???:

All keep their problems private until ET:QW is coming.

or do you just have no problems :???:

Sure I always have problems (if there’s none, I’ll make a new one myself :D) but I think almost everything hast been covered in this forum yet

Well, a couple things…

  1. Many mappers want to try and work things out for themselves.

  2. It takes a long time to make good maps and nobody that would post here in the first place (I would hope) would want to be embarassed by releasing a pile of junk (there were 23 maps released on October 2nd on etmaps.de, either updates or new maps entirely and very few if any were mentioned in these forums)…

  3. Most people looking for help making maps or projects rely on private messangers and then there are the people who believe that nobody will help them and tell them to look it up after they have searched high and low…so they don’t even bother posting.

I agree that this forum has been very slow the past couple weeks, but hopefully, like myself and my team…they are working on some good Enemy Territory projects, which will hopefully turn into the best maps ever seen, for any title currently available. ET has a lot of life left in it, just you wait and see.

Or we quit mapping

(carnage) #6

there has been so much stuff coverd here that you can find most thinggs with a search

i also have alot of skilled mappers on msn, who always seem to be not busy enought to help, so i only post here with general radiant problems or when they are busy :stuck_out_tongue:

I thought the same thing a few weeks ago McNite. - I think we just jinxed ourselves for a fullout onslaught of new mappers…

I have seen a few newer mappers at map-center.com and enemy-territory.com …but they tend to stay away from here for some reason though…

I have been busy with making a map so I try to avoid spending extra time in a forum. :stuck_out_tongue:

they tend to stay away from here for some reason

probably we tend to tell them to search first and post the complete problem including their approaches to solve it  but that really became necessary in the last year cuz we had a LOT of beginners that didn’t care about trying to find out first :bash:

And yea… I m not on here when I m at home due to mapping (TheRiver II Redux is very almost final) and running a clan too, only at work when i m having the wait-times.

yeah i talk to two beginer mappers on msn, no end of questions. i have directed them to this forum many times but they have never used it. i gess a lota noob mappers want quick answers rushing to make maps as quick as posible not realy realising mapping is a slow but rewarding process

(kamikazee) #11

The last is what I missed when looking at et_headshot: seemingly random textures, weird lightmap…
Other examples can be found on map hosting sites, you can’t believe your eyes if you see how many test/beginner maps are hosted in there.

Yea i saw it also, there weren’t a lot of people here on SD forums, maybe because its school or that they need to go work, maybe they don’t have enought time to check the forums
