Hello and welcome to the Dirty Bomb forums! If you are confused/mesmerized/excited or just plain interested in everything there is to know about this place, you’re in the right spot. Check out the forum features and their explanations below- we will update this thread if anything changes or any new information comes up. Be sure to let us know if there are any features that aren’t here that you would like to have. We will be adding features and possibly changing things based on your input.

RANKS
You will rank-up by getting reaction points from participating in threads (more on that to follow.)
Lowest to highest-

BANNED – Boom. Headshot. You’ve been banned and can no longer participate in our forums.

BOGEY - The only way to get this rank is to have a negative number of points. Meaning it is mostly reserved for fake accounts, spammers, trolls and so on.

RECRUIT – First forum rank. This is the rank you will receive when you’re brand spankin’ new. You may not post links at this rank- this is to avoid spammers.

PRIVATE - Second forum rank. You must achieve at least 25 points. You can now post links!

ADMINSTRATOR - Not technically a forum rank! Yours truly has this rank because I am the Community Manager.

REACTIONS AND POINTS
You can mark someone’s post by clicking one of the reactions below it. Certain reactions will award the person a point while others will subtract.

INSIGHTFUL– This point should be given if someone enlightens you on something you didn’t know. Whether it’s new information or a new perspective- it increases the value of the conversation as a whole. Marking a post as insightful awards 1 forum point.

DISAGREE- Users that disagree with a post can give their opinion with this reaction. Since a disagreement is highly subjective, this reaction doesn’t promote or bury the post or give any points.

AGREE– Pretty self-explanatory. If you agree with someone’s post go ahead and agree. Agree is worth 1 point.

DISLIKE- General Disapproval. Maybe someone said something naughty or wasn’t adding to the conversation in a positive way. This is worth -1 point

LIKE- A like is also pretty simple. It means you liked a post and is worth 1 point.

LOL- We love laughter! It’s the best medic! Uhh medicine. Anyway, it’s always a positive thing-this reaction adds 1 point to a post’s score.

FLAG: ABUSE/REPORT- If someone is being abusive, going out of their way to swear and curse, insult or harass you- use this. Please do not use this function lightly it will be dealt with strictly. If you don’t like or agree with someone do NOT use this. If a person has posted something in the wrong section do NOT use this. False reports of this will result in your own account being looked at. Abuse will subtract 1 point from the user that was flagged, so they are worth -1 point.

FLAG:SPAM- Please report any spam with this reaction- this includes any form of advertising. This is -1 point.

FIRST ANSWER
Answering questions is a great way to show your support for a community! To ASK a question you create a thread and mark it as such:

Then, the creator of the thread can mark someones post “yes” they answered the question. When they do this that comment will be pushed to the top of thread.

Under that is the list of the All Time Leaders. It is a list of the 10 top contributing forumers of all time. Who is gonna be the real forum MVP? Only time will tell!

[U]WARNINGS AND JAILED/BANNED/TROLL BRANDS[/U]
Unfortunately there are times when trouble is caused by someone. When this happens they will most likely be warned. If they continue to be combative they will then get banned.

WARNINGS– Warnings are given out in stages. If the crime isn’t so bad you will most likely just get a verbal warning. If the trouble continues you will receive points. If you go above 3 points you will become a jailed account.

JAILED– When someone has over 3 warning points they will be “jailed.” They will then have limited posting capability and their avatar gets bars put over it. They can no longer start discussions, can not post as often, and have their signature hidden. Jailed users are let out after their time has been served. Obviously if a user still does bad things while in jail they will get banned.

BANNED - A Banned user’s avatar is changed to the picture below and they no longer have any access to the forums, period. This person has either repeatedly caused trouble OR committed a crime so heinous they received a “do not pass go, do not collect 200$” pass straight to jail.

TROLL– The best way to get rid of a troll is to not feed it. So when there is a user who is particularly causing trouble on the forums they will get branded as troll on their account- rendering them voiceless. When you click their profile you will see the above Troll picture at the top of their page to indicate this has happened to them. They can still post and do all the normal things everyone else does. The difference being that their posts are all hidden/invisible. Nothing they post in the forum can be read by anyone until the troll stamp is lifted.

Other Tips!
Use the reactions to share how you feel about other’s comments. This will help the forum as a whole by helping helpful comments stay up top and such.

Mention others to let someone know you are talking about or to them. Put the @ symbol before their username. They’ll get notified when you do!

Hashtags! Hashtags everywhere!
You can use these to look up what other people are saying about a topic, etc. You know how it works!

Update your notification settings. You’ll receive a notification if someone mentions you or posts to a discussion that you’ve bookmarked. You can set notifications from your edit profile page.

Post a comment to someone’s Activity Feed on their profile page. Remember, these are comments can be seen by everyone.

You can private message members too, or check your messages by going to your “inbox” in your personal menu.

Bookmark a discussion (click the star) to get notifications for new comments. You can edit notification settings from your profile.

Don’t forget to select an avatar for your profile!

Keep up with news on the go from your mobile phone. Just go to the forum URL in your browser - no need to download an app!

I actually love all these features. With a little bit of work here and there I honestly think these forums are one of the better forums I have seen.

How do the forums determine when you have answered a question? Having just you doing it might be a little bit of a pain and time drain in your day right? :smiley:

I know this thing is LONG too haha! And good catch @‌Mustang (i’ll add this to the manifesto) for QUESTIONS- someone has to create a thread and mark it as a question… like so:

I think for now, you have to reach private first class. (Getting 20 points or so on forums?)

To prevent spammers and forum weirdo’s posting links to stuff they don’t want on here.

How do I properly attach files to a message? I see that there’s option for it but I tried twice to send my cfg to Fuzzel, attached file etc. but in the end he never got my cfg in a message.

Yep, I try to attach the file, it gets uploaded, send the message, whoever gets the message doesn’t get the file in it.
