Makes it nearly impossible to stay on the same team my friend(s) is/are on. Not gonna lie, I’ve been a diehard Dirty Bomb fan but between the “new” anti-cheat which hardly works and this crap where I can’t even party with my friends, might as well quit. This game has been going down the toilet fast since they nerfed phantom.
Forced team scramble right before deployment
The “scramble” is the sorting by skill that is taking place. If you and your friends are nearly of equal skill you will almost always be placed on opposite teams for balancing. It’s just how it works. I am fairly certain I’ve had this conversation with you before and you were upset that there wasn’t enough balancing. I could be wrong though.
They have mentioned on dev streams that they might allow small groups to party together on pub servers soon.
Not sure what that particular patch has to do with anything. The auto-balance at the start of a lobby has always been there and NGS only came online last patch.
Wut
The whole point of the scramble is for team balance, and right now that is what most people find important. I am not sure on the whole Party System and if it will be implemented into public matches, but for now this mechanic is here to stop people from stacking.
In a perfect world, you could play on a team with your friends and have the match still be balanced, but with the low skill level of most people in this game, it’s just not possible.
A good compromise would be max. 3 man party. That’d let people play together but not entirely one sided.
I think that is exactly what they are looking into potentially implementing. Allows you to play with a few friends but won’t allow full on pubstomps.
This is a good solution. I only ever play with 1 or 2 people at a time anyways. I think unless you are actually organizing something that would be the case.
Imo letting friends play together is more important than catering to noobs who want easy games instead of trying to get better.
Part of the reason autobalance is always a joke anyways is because there’s still piles of noobs who will lose anyways, autobalance not. They’ll still get rekt, they’ll still get butthurt, and if autobalance isn’t their excuse something else will be.
I’ve seen autobalance occur immediately after a round end, but not post-lock-in. In my game today, the one that motivated me to make this thread, 2 people quit on the enemy team after lock in, maybe 5-10 seconds before deployment occurs. Suddenly I’m forced onto the other team apart from my friend.
They honestly need to add some sort of party feature for pubs. I mean, it’s PUBS. Who cares if bad players get stomped?
I just hate how hypocritical everyone is. If you point out a bad play to somebody, they say it’s just a game, they play for fun, get a life, etc. But when they lose, they’ll cry about team stack and autobalance being bad.
So which is it? You either want to win or you don’t. You can’t be an awful teammate, drag your team down, refuse to make a conscious effort to get better, then turn around and complain about team stacks.
Friends like to play games together. Friends make games more fun. Splitting up 2- or 3-player groups of friends for the sake of hopefully making an even match in a pub (lol) is stupid.
If people want even teams or fair games, they should go do competitive. Since when do pubs need to be so strictly controlled for skill level when EVERYONE KNOWS most people are bad at this game?
You can never truly balance teams or pubs when most of the community is trash. People have to take it upon themselves to get better, not ruin it for everyone else because they’d rather be terrible and let autobalance and other mechanics give them easier matches. Smh
Yep, been there, done that, still more than half-the-time “the game”(you see the excuse(for us)?) want’s us, to play together. Probably the enemy deserved it? (To be honest, I am still not convinced, by my observations, that there is a really fair working “balancing” in play.)
This isn’t an issue. Period. My friend and I play together often, we have the patience to wait around and switch teams to be together, we don’t always have to and we are very near on the spectrum of skill(Usually we’re the top two on the match board).
Not only is it not an issue, it also wont be annoying in the future as they have plans for public parties which completely “fixes” what you’re experiencing. But honestly if you don’t have that kind of patience and think the game is going down hill, then you can leave, it is Free to Play meaning you didn’t invest much to begin with. Though even if you do leave I guarantee you’ll be back once more updates start rolling out, but I would advise taking a break from the game if you are getting frustrated by it like this.
Yeah, everyone without patience can leave if they want, without telling anyone why they don’t have no patience, we all know, for sure.
So why even care about optimizations, if all people wanting more than the status quo, and not wanting to wait indefinetely, are free to leave?
Democracy anyone? Uh wait… The majority-problem. But ok, some donations on the election-pr will solve it, right?
Yes people like you are annyoing. Even one of my friends an me playing together in a team on an average server are simply-said, a win, if there is no such constallation or more than one really high-skilled player in the enemy team.
So please, let us get some interesting games, on the plus side even when playing together with our mates. Thx.

First of all, you have no idea how much I personally invested in the game. Time or money. Just because there’s plenty of leeches and free-to-players doesn’t mean anyone with legitimate criticism is one of them automatically. I imagine someone who invested no money or little time would be less likely to care and therefore offer criticism. I can only assume you haven’t given a dime to the developers with your attitude of being blindly complacent with how everything is.
Second of all, autobalance splitting up friends is currently an issue. Just because they said they have plans for a feature doesn’t mean it’s a big priority or getting adequate attention to come out in a reasonable time frame. It doesn’t change the fact that I’m speaking on a current issue. Let’s not pretend everything the developers say they plan on doing is actually being worked on or will actually get implemented anytime soon. Potential features being added at some indefinite point in the future maybe possibly isn’t a logical reason for someone to NOT provide feedback.
Third of all, it’s obvious the game has been “going down hill.” Player counts are dropping, it’s getting harder to find servers, hackers are still a prominent issue. NGS hasn’t been fixed so it’s stopped crashing and people aren’t getting erroneously booted. Competitive matchmaking is clearly bad and probably irreversibly bad from low player population. And there’s no way to even stay teamed up with friends. Not to mention autobalance is hardly effective anyways. One team wins, one loses. To a bad player, “the game” is always doing them wrong somehow no matter what. Autobalance does nothing positive from anyone’s perspective. lt’s an annoyance to groups of friends and a placebo for baddies.
Fourth of all, telling someone to quit playing just because they have criticism is stupid. You’re actually trying to compel people to leave the game if they aren’t COMPLETELY satisfied with it. You’re basically arguing nothing should ever change to customers’ wishes; that the customers should simply disappear if they don’t blindly accept anything they pay for. The game is already struggling population wise, and you’re trying to convince people to quit.
Just think about all that. It’ll become obvious you’re really backwards and confused.
The amount of self-gratification on these forums is rather laughable.

I’m starting to loathe this place.
I play with friends a lot but a sick part of me hopes it never changes so I can keep being all like “OOPS I LOCKED IN OH NOO I GUESS I HAVE TO SHOOT YOU NOW!~~”

Nothing that you said doesn’t change the fact that this ISN’T an issue, whatsoever. Autobalance splitting you from your friends is not the end of the world, go spectator and wait for a slot to fill so you can be on the same team, it doesn’t usually take that long and once you’re on the same team it’s much more likely you’ll remain on the same team for the next match. The issue here is your lack of patience to do such things and making them out to be a big deal for the game. I say you have the option to leave because you clearly show a waving disinterest in the game upon the basis of “I can’t always play with friends and win.” and saying they should not “cater to noobs” is like saying they should forfeit any new playerbase that will arrive to the game when real issues are fixed like the crashing anti-cheat. Not to mention you said it yourself you might as well quit, I’m just going off that basis, so don’t make it out like it was my idea.
I’m also not blindly complacent to how everything currently is, I understand what the problems are of this game and I also understand that the developers know these issues… constantly ranting and complaining about them doesn’t get them fixed any sooner and it also doesn’t help the overall mood of the community. I know what it’s like to spend time and money on a game and have it go downhill, but the difference being those games were RELEASED, this game is BETA. You paid money knowing full well there would be plenty of issues with the game, I’m not saying your criticism or opinion doesn’t matter so stop getting that idea, I’m saying they already know, they don’t need everyone to keep telling them about one problem… and they certainly don’t need someone making a problem out of nothing, like the team scramble before matches.
When autobalance splits you and your friends up, you can either see it as:
a.) Killing your fun, or
b.) Giving you an excellent opportunity to make new friends!~~=3
But seriously mate, pretty sure comp matches don’t split parties up. Play comp matches. Or don’t.

If you were “forced” onto opposite teams after starting the round on the same team then there was a shuffle vote that was called and it passed. DB does not shuffle teams after you get into a match. It ONLY does that at the start of a new lobby and it has always worked this way. Either that or you and your friend weren’t actually on the same team and you just didn’t realize it (which happens).
