For those who thinks that blender is too hard to learn...

My mate pegazus installed the blender yesterday at midday. He was desperately trying to learn it, and after a while he asked for help. Well he made some simple 2d mesh against background first following a vid I recorded. When he got it done, I send him an example of how to make a vase in 5 mins and then how to uvmap it in another 5 mins. Well it took many hours, but we finally got all game ready including shaders.

Then after that we started working on this. I made some pics and vids, and he followed them. I didn’t touch it at all. Here’s what we got done during the night in less than 10 hours. Yes I did it all about it in total of 30 mins or so, but he installed the blender about 5 hours before we started this. It isn’t uv mapped or textured cos it’s not planned to use for game, just practising the modelling itself. Anyway here’s some blender renders, as all blender users know, it will look very smooth in ET.

So do you still think blender is hard to learn? :stroggtapir:

Yeah, it toke a lot of it for me, one paynfull night and one sleptless night but it is done and i feel great

After making the vase and banana  in Blender, the making progress got faster and simpeler
Blender is not so hard, if i learened it then everybody can

Thanks sage for teaching me

Np. -_-

(Pegazus) #4

great, now we can start on the harder projects  ^^

 Help me!

looks pretty damn good. would love to see it textued though.

btw. would you mind borrwing me a banana model? i need it for my map…

(-SSF-Sage) #7

Wohohoooo, bohoohooo! It takes you 3,5 mins to make your own.

(IndyJones) #8

as you have already experienced that, some things that takes 5 minutes takes few hours for some people. i’m one of these who just suck at modelling anything. i tried milkshape and 3ds max. i can’t find them friendly.

K… You just want that banana model textured?

(IndyJones) #10

i just downloaded blender and tutorial for making a banana in it…

i’m stuck at finding that vertex dots

well, i’d like that banana model to be able to use in ET. i can send you a texture of banana i have.

Everybody likes bananas  Glad to see you wanna use it

Hi fellow Blenderheads,
Well, not the greatest models but I can see he tried. I’m a fellow Blender user who also works with the East Front mod team. Anyways, that’s only half the battle, now you got to skin them (I was never good at this). Maybe add some stuff to that. I see not many polys so I’d add some especially on that plate and maybe use the smooth filter when rendering and also get rid of the blue-noob render background, add something better.

I even bought a book about Blender  It’s a really good program, but I haven’t started learning it yet.

There are tons of plugs for Blender and it even has a gaming script language to create your own games.

The idea was not to show anything fancy, or have great stuff for blender. The idea was to make pegazus learn making models FOR ET. To get the lowpoly gameready models for ET. Yeah they aren’t UV mapped, but that’s a different case. These models aren’t hard for anyone familiar with modellling, but considering it was his first day of modelling, it’s quite neat. That’s the point of this thread. Not superhyper great render, with a background and all the special effects. After a long night, we just took some fast photos, that was the fastest way.

Btw He already made a plane for a map-tho it’s not uv mapped yet. :stroggtapir:

(Pegazus) #15

Yes i have :stuck_out_tongue: but i hate UV mapping, it’s confusing, it’s hard but maybe it was becauze i have had only 3 hours of sleep ^^ Now i am rested and ready to UV map, i hope

I think you’ll be ready for guns, try to model a pistol using this Tutorial…
