For a game with so many options, there are surprisingly few choices

Body type? Light. There are no disadvantages. With its ability to strafe, the light body type is easily the most survivable, The few hitpoints lost are meaningless. Add to that the ability to return to the battlefield more quickly, take all routes on the map and respond to the changing situations of the game more rapidly and there is no reason to play any other body type.

Because heavies are so slow to return to the fight, they spend a ton more down time not doing anything to help the objectives or damage the enemy. And since they cannot strafe at all, with the ease of headshots and the accuracy and range of the SMG/pistols, heavies right now are a deathtrap.

Good luck Splash Damage! I wish you and Brink well![/QUOTE]

I agree with all of the above. I’m currently trying to persevere with a Heavy Soldier build. Many will throw around arguments like ‘personal choice’, but to me, in a well-designed game of this ilk, all the potential body-types should be equally fun and engaging…and imho, they currently aren’t. My Heavy Soldier moves with all the grace of a reversing bin-truck, but doesn’t have the survivability/HP to compensate. As for the Lights, they appear to have little downside, as you rightly state. Viva la difference, I say, but things need balancing out a bit.

We disagree on the weapons, though. I find the differences there both balanced and apparent, personally.

That said, imho, your points are well made and your posts well-phrased and clear, but be aware, some of the move rabid ‘blind-defenders’ here will be on this post ‘like a tramp on a dropped pizza’.

EDIT: Have read the rest of the thread, sorry my warning came too late!

A few disagreements.

  • I use all classes evenly, and see players balancing out classes on most occasions.

  • I rarely play Light. I stick to Medium, and play Light as often as Heavy. I certainly notice the difference of punishment each can take.

  • I never use the Carb-9 anymore, it has terrible range and gets trumped by ARs often. It would take a skilled user of a Sea Eagle to compete with an AR user beyond the Carb’s appropriate range, but overall I’d say it’s relatively even.

  • Assault Rifles have the HUGE advantage over SMGs of actually having reliable precision. There are places where firing a Gerund is done with ease, whereas even with a Kross it would come down to the luck of spray.

thats a good point. weapon deviation needs to be better for heavy and worse for light. keep medium as it is. that would help sort out those lights and give heavy some advantage

i tried playing heavy but i can still be killed very easily and i find quicker due to not being able to evade very well.

i find light gets OHK too easily.
