in rtcw, windows are just a mere texutere!!!

my city fight will sort 'em out!!

muaahahhahah

why only use a texuter

anyway, i can’t seem to pick the right ones, any one got colour 1942 city reference?

colourful please. and some ruins will be nice (stalingrad ruins :D)

um…
In RTCW, some windows are “mere” textures, others are more complex and and constructed from a few brushes… some have individual breakable glass bits. It all depends on how the window (or whatever) will be seen by the player. Its the never ending struggle between appearence and performance I’m afraid…

As for a reference pic…hmm…
try a http://www.google.com image search

If you made it out of brushes with frame and let’s say 4 small windows the engine would have to draw at least.
4 windows, front and back. 24
The cross, front, back plus sides. 2
3+6
Window frame. 2*4+4

8+12+12=32 faces with 8 of them being transparent. Quite a lot compared to using 1 brush as a transparent texture, which looks good.

It reduced the number of r_speeds and I’m quite sure this is why it’s made like it is.
