Fog works like this:

you need a fog-shader
and some settings in the worldspawn:

K/V
_fog / path/to/yourfogshader
fogclip / 1000
farplanedist / 900

Note that fogclip has to be the bigger number. As for the shader you can use a battery or radar-shader for a start. This is the fog I used in TheRiver2Redux:

textures/tr2redux_t/tr2r_fog // used for _fog in worldspawn
{
	qer_editorimage textures/sfx/tr2r_fog_06_ei.jpg

	surfaceparm nodraw
	// surfaceparm nolightmap
	surfaceparm nonsolid
	surfaceparm trans
	surfaceparm fog

	fogparms ( 0.518 0.549 0.557 ) 4950	 // = fog_07: 0.67 0.72 0.73 fog_08: 0.65 0.67 0.71
}

You ll need to adjust the color and the fogclip parameters in the fogparms of course.

For more info plz search the forum. There are TONS of threads on it, and they tell you all you need to know. Use the keywords farplanedist, fogclip and search for my name, I did a couple of threads on fog-related topics.
How to search the forum even while the search is broken: check this thread.

naa, forget it, i never find it serching on google…

If you start like “i never find it” you should quit mapping right away. Mapping is ALL about finding out things yourself and make them work. Sorry but this is the truth.

well, what i menth is that i just need to wait 5 or 6 six hours befor the mapper i got on MSN shows up to tell me how… by the way, fogshader? where i get that? im kind a noobish in fog and worldspawn things, im a more prefab maker

you could wait for a mapper on msn but when you are stuck. particualry with very basic questions that experienced mapper learnt long ago you might find they get anyoed very quick;y. when two exeperienced mappers discus posiblietes for doing this/that it can be pretty interesting throwin idea at each other there isnt a set answer and so searching wont realy help them. but when its something like fog where there are loads of reasources out there helping with fog you should consider that whoever is helping you has things to do too. helping once in a while when you are stuck is ok but not every time you want to know something

Sorry to give even more critique, but a mentor is only good when learning basic mapping. There will be a time you’ll have to stand on your own feet if you want to be a mapper yourself. I’d give searching a try, even if it results in nothing usefull. Maybe you hit a page from which you learn something that might come usefull later?

About the fogshader: it’s a shader to generate fog when it’s applied to a surface. (Quite obvious, actually)
]UBC[ McNite posted one, in the second codeblock of his post above.

well, yes you are very right, but i have been trying to get fog for allmost 1 month now, so i can say im stuck :stuck_out_tongue:
