Fog problem.

Ok, my map is a flat map so I have to do somthing to protect people from seeing the edges of the skybox and stuff. I’ve added little mines to the side, but I want a fog at the side so it fades out into the distance.

I’ve made a box and added the radar’s fog texture too it. Didn’t work, I’ve also done the fog in worldspawn, it created a small fog, (really crappy) and thats not what I wanted.

Can anyone help?

Well, i’m sure that people here can help.
You really need to use the search button, there have been so many questions about fog just recently.

You say the worldspawn fog gave you small fog? Try copying the fog shader and alter the numbers in it (Don’t alter the radar shader or any of the other ones originally in the scripts folder as they could mess up other parts of the game). Also, if you create a new shader you’ll need to add the shader name to the shaderlist.txt file which is in amongst the shaders in the scripts folder (Just open it up, you’ll see what I mean). Take a look at the shader manual to find out what the fog parameters are. The worldspawn fog uses a normal shader like other fog, because it’s in the worldspawn however, it’s applied over the whole volume of the map rather than the volume of a fog brush.
You’ll probably have to have the opacity of the fog rather high and maybe move your skybox outwards so that the fog reaches opacity before the player sees past the edge of the map.

Have fun

Well, I want to use brushes on the side for the fog, but they dont seem to work.

The worldspawn way works fine, but i dont want to drown map in fog, just the sides.

lead it right out and put fences there, also try lots of bushes and trees, make it dense maby?

anyone remember narf practice? that map just had a weird grid environment with some terrain. to say something relative to your problem: i would just alter your map so that there is a barrier between the edges. buildings, a big wall, some shrubs, etc.
