"Focus" augment and firing from the hip

(The_Enema_Bandit) #1

The description of the augment “Focus” is: “Reduces flinching when hit while iron sighting or scoped by 30%”
I know that some time ago the reduction also applied to firing from the hip. Some people are saying that it is still like that.
I want to know if that’s true. And if it is - why that pretty important part is not included in the augment description?

I can’t say for sure, since the aim punch of most weapons is not that big anyway and 30% is hard to see when you’re being hit, but Fragger’s K121 seems more stable from the hip when I’m using a card with “Focus”. Maybe I’m imagining things. Haven’t done any testing, so I will just ask.

The question is:
Does the “Focus” augment also reduce the amount of flinching when hit while hip firing?

It applies to hip fire, devs clarified a while back. It’s not a bug either, it’s intended.

They should change the wording. I had no idea if affected hip fire either, so I’ve often thought cards with focus were crap because I almost never scope.

(Amerika) #4

Yup. Even with aimpunch being mostly a non-issue these days Focus is still pretty great due to it working from the hip as well as when sighted in.

(doxjq) #5

Then they should change it to “Reduces aimpunch by 30%” or “Reduces flinching from enemy fire by 30%”

It’s misleading the way it is. Maybe I’m a little on the slow side but I don’t watch all the dev streams so like I say, I had no idea it affected hipfire too.

It’s a bit like lock on. Ever since I started that game that perk has included “mines” in the description which always seemed silly to me since Proxy has never had lock on, at least until gen 2 cards are out.

Thank you.

Now I have to decide if I prefer “Focus” for the Timik or 15% more damage for the Shitleto knife in my favorite Stoker card, T52. I’m not using melee with Stoker, so I think it’s time to say bye-bye to my blue T52.

Oh, by the way, all my other cobalts have “Cool”. So, yeah… thanks a lot, second gen cards!

Yes, they should.

@The_Enema_Bandit cool is not that bad, if you’re low on ammo with a non support merc and you’re near a mounted MG, it can be nice to shoot like 5s before have to change position since if you shoot one time with the MG, it’s better to never go back to it. Bit with element of surprise, you can down few ennemies in the extra time you get because MG are just very efficient.
It’s just useless in execution. Mg are doing a lot of damage to the EV too.

Any half-decent player will pretty much kill you immediately if they hear someone is in a turret. It’s a super niche perk at best.
