.

i made like 2 towers bud it take me forever to geth one top off them .
little to big haha.
no bud do you make your buildings .
straight one to your terrain are do you make them apart from the terrain.
witch is the best way to geth constructing some fine buildings .
thats all i wanna know thx .

floor plans needed
i tend to have my buildings each in a separate map file. this allows you
to easily make changes to the geometry and lighting, then import into
a boxmap and examine the result. this will keep things simple and speeds
up testing / optimizing, since you do not really need to compile your whole
map if you only made changes to one building.
terrain is often created using third party programs as easygen is.
with easygen you can create and modify your terrain and then import into
your actual map.
if i have a basic idea of a map i start sketching down some brushes in radiant
to adjust proportions of terrain and buildings. this works better for me than
simple pen+paper sketches as it looks totally different in 3d
when satisfied with the map’s layout i copy those blocky brushes into a
separate map and start getting detailed. the finished building then is copied
back into the actual map, there replacing the sketched placeholder block.
just experiment around and find workflows that please you best.
thx.
i dith it both ways bud its so damn hard.
i can make fine buildings bud i want them to be a litle to detailt.
pen en paper i dont like either .
i made already like 1000 terrains just to geth hopefully one im satisch fiyd with lol.
sorry for the poor englisch .
my teammates keep kicking my ass to finisch my map lol .
bud im doing it all alone it takes so many time (bud keep loving it )
Practice makes perfect
For map inspiration, just keep an eye out for neat buildings / arrangements of buildings in your day to day life. I hate to admit I’ve become one of those weirdo’s that always carries around a little sketch book, just incase I see something neat.
