Flipping a Texture

(sQynor) #1

Hello i want to place a texture… but when i want to place i get a picture that’s wrong…
i want to FLIP it. not rotate but flip… i can’t find anywhere how to flip a texture ( not a brush, a texture ( CTRL + SHIFT ))

Anyone know how ? i know how to adjust fit etc. but hwo the f*ck do i flip it over ?

anyone ? fast ?

perhaps rotate the brush and hope that the other side of the rotated brush looks like it should :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

i need to flip it… lol not rotate… i can find the rotate button :> but in eed to flip is… horizently.

the X|X and the Y|Y and the Z|Z don’t work on textures.

clip your brush
|_____|| <- this way… then rotate the smaller part (the whole small brush must be given the texture).
then the texture should be shown flipped.
then merge the two brushes and dont forget to give the faces the other texture back before!

i don’t understand… i got a 12 sided cube…

which i want to rotate with different pictureson it… but i need to flip the texture since it looks like it’s mirrored… i don’t want to add another brush or so… i tried to rotate the whol brush but that does NOT solve anything.

hm i try again to explain… i never saw a feature to flip textures…
if you do not give a face any texture ,but the whole brush, then the back and the front (if they are parallel)
get the texture the same way:
if you now rotate the brush you see a 180° rotated texture =>flipped.
you only give the texture to the faces :
=> split your brush: every side needs to be splitted parallel to the side’s direction

e.g. if that is your brush (ignore the “*”, they are only here because " " arent displayed)

*//
/__/ then split it this way:
__
*****************/// then you can give the whole " /" the texture, then rotate it 180°.
/_//
/
now surfaces on the top and at the bottom ´have the texture, too but they should have the texture
of the next side.
=> give those sides the other texture.
now merge the two pieces together:

  • __
    */**/
    /__/

lol i don’t want to cut my brushes =o

but you will merge them after the procedure, then they are one only brush again

ok i tried a lot to find another way and i found one…
if you stretch it to a negative value then it gets flipped ^^ xD

I think the solution you want is to select the face of the brush that is showing your texture

Then press ‘S’ to bring up the surface inspector

if you have not stretched your texture then you will probably have a horizontal stretch of 0.5 and a vertical stretch of 0.5

if you want to flit your texture horizontally change your horizontal stretch to -0.5. obviously changed the vertical stretch if you want to vertically flip the texture

if you have stretched your texture to something other than 0.5 don’t worry just reverse the pollarity of your textures stretch e.g. 0.753 = -0.753

yes ^^ good timing

Thanks guys :> the into negative thingy is what i was looking for :>

The brush thingy was kinda too far sought for lol… but still…

thank for helping me out
