Fletchers Sticky Bombs

(deliciousJoke) #1

About two weeks ago I bought fletcher. What I noticed (and what those who use him probably also know) is that you get blasted away if you stand too close to your sticky bombs when you trigger them. Not long after I was trying out if you could also get blasted vertically if you stand on top of them and well… that sort of is the case. When you run towards a sticky bomb, trigger it and then jump, you can get decent air-time.

Just so that you all know what I mean:

Like this you can jump over or on top of certain constructions. It might be useful in some cases, but you get an aweful lot of AoE damage which leaves you vulnerable to get killed in one shot. I wouldn’t recommend using it in matches unless no enemy is around and you are sure you can get the timing right. Fyi, getting the timing right isn’t as easy as longjumping.

Here some examples where you can use the sticky bomb jump:

  • Terminal

  • Chapel

  • Dome

I would advice not to use the one in Terminal cos it is highly likely to encounter enemies right before and after you triggered your sticky. Whether you got over the wall or not.

Overall I think this isn’t really useful if you plan on doing it in a match. The timing is rather difficult to master and it leaves you close to dead. Evenso, it is fun to do and if you pull it off to get on spots like the MG nest on Chapel you have a nice surprise attack on the enemy.

Anyways, this was just something I liked to share since I haven’t seen any posts about it on the forum.
(Can anyone tell me how to insert the images as image instead of link? Thx in advance)

There’s a Blishlok loadout available for Fletcher that gives you the Fail Safe augment. I guess it’s a good one if you want to use that technique.

Sweet, thanks for the tip, I’ve been doing it all wrong. I tend to jump and crounch just above the bomb to get the maximum lift, which is lot harder to time correctly. More stickyjumpin’ on the way for me then!

All Unshakeable loadouts are pretty neat for this too, since even if it doesn’t offer 30% reduction like FailSafe, 20% is nice enough.

Just to add one you can also jump on Defender “sniper balcony” at Chapel’s last point. Pretty hilarious to set a jolly trap-camp there.

You’re welcome and yea, I know that one too, but I thought to keep it simple and show a few instead of posting all of them right away.

I suck at the timing, most of the time I end up suiciding.

(Eox) #6

Please ignore my last post. A Reddit user just reported something pretty bad : the BL32 loadout (the one with Fail Safe) does NOT work at the moment. Fail Safe for whatever reason does not work with Fletcher’s Stickies.

Yet another bug with Fletcher’s loadouts.

So lock-on doesn’t work and fail safe also doesn’t? Well, at least it ain’t pineapple juggler.

Just keep practicing. You get the hang of it after you done it a couple of times succesfully. Advisable to practice in warm-up matches first, if you didnt do that already. As for the suiciding; make sure your hp regenerates to at least 101 before you try again (you can still die from fall dmg though).

Aside from that, I have a question. Is it considered bug abuse/against the rules/bannable if you get on top of things where you shouldnt be able to get? It has probably the obvious answer, but stil I would like some confirmation before I use it in public or competetive matches.

An example of such places:

As far as I know there are three places like these in the maps which are currently available. None of them allows you to go either on top of any adjacent construction or outside of the map.

I wouldn’t honestly be too worried of spots like you showed, since one can’t simply argue with a straight face that afore mentioned area would give you exploit-level advantage. 10-30hp and extremely exposed, can be practically used only once for surprise effect against any enemy with more than 2 braincells bouncing into each other inside their skull.

Oh, also neat way to practice is making offline server and giving yourself large medpacks as primary weapon or something. While it uses same cooldown “pool” as stickies, still faster than waiting natural regen. For the heck of it I haven’t gotten HP station to work while using Fletcher with stickies & detonator.

Looking back on it, I dont even use these spots. It’s too campy and that totally doesn’t fit my playstyle. I did have some fun on Chapel though. The jump behind the MG and the one to the defenders side on 3rd stage can be really profitable. Clearing their spawn of all the campy snipers with sticky and knife can indeed be hilarious xD

And thanks for the tip. I feel kinda stupid I didn’t think of trying to equip healthpacks in offline servers. A bit late for me now, cos I am kinda done practicing in offline matches, but better late than never.
Edit: Played Nader today and yea, you can guess what. Also possible to nade jump. Which means it should also be possible with Fragger, if the blast from his nade doesn’t kill you. Didn’t think of this sooner probably because I didn’t have Nader nor Fragger at the time.

I haven’t figured out yet either how to use hp station with Fletcher. If I ever learn how it’s done I will let it know here.

Seeing one the stickies appear on my screen gives me a heart attack nearly 70% of the time

My N***a xD

Today I did some research to get the healingstation and it wasn’t even that much digging (5 mins). I ended up finding 2 treads which aren’t that old. One with some nice jumps/tricks where I noticed the guy had set his HP to infinite (seems like I wasn’t the only one who posted a tread about bombjumping):

http://forums.dirtybomb.nexon.net/discussion/15090/video-playlist-useful-tricks-jumps

That brought me to the tread where I found how to do that:

http://forums.dirtybomb.nexon.net/discussion/15474/god-mod-for-offline-match

The command you need is: set pawn health x
With x the value of the amount of HP you want. So for example: set pawn health 9999
You can add a few numbers to be able to practice jumps in the toxic area in Underground.

At last a link of a reddit post where someone has shared a list of commands to use in offline matches. Most of them aren’t that useful, but anyways… I just share it for those who are interested:

If anyone has something they want to add, feel free to do so. Have fun ^^
