Fletcher remove detonation delay

Hello,

I think Fletcher need to have the same behavior than the demo in TF2, he should have the ability to fire and detonate sticky in the same time without the detonate animation.
Despite the fact he is an engineer, i saw no interest to pick him in place of nader.

What do you guys think?

This would make the Lock On augment useless (if it’s not already glitched or broken, because we can’t see any difference). We need a word about that augment.

Press 4 on your keyboard to pull out your sticky bombs as a holdable item. This way, you can easily aim where you throw and pressing mouse 1 will make you throw them faster than Q. You can also hold mouse 1 to increase your throw and release time. If you throw all sticky bombs with 4, you’ll instantly switch to the detonator, which is also a holdable item that you can pull out by pressing 5. Holding the detonator also increases the detonation time when you detonate with mouse 1 instead of E. This makes sticky bombs far better, but I won’t say that will make them on par with other explosives. Proxy mines still guarantee more kills and while you could argue that they are easy to avoid for competent players, how many competent players are there? From my experience, not many. There’s also the problem with sticky bombs randomly vanishing when you try to detonate them on enemy players. They just despawn without dealing damage and play no sound or produce a visual explosion. This is a HUGE bug that completely breaks Fletcher who gains a damage buff if sticky bombs are detonated on enemy players, so I really hope they fix this ASAP.

It’s not helping, i don’t want sticky detonate faster, i want they detonate while i’m firing without interuption. It’s way better for traps

That would be insanely overpowered. As someone who generally tops the scoreboard with Fletcher, I don’t see how pulling out your detonator is such a problem. You might as well ask Nader to spit out her grenades from her mouth while she still fires her weapon. :expressionless:

Proposed change would make Fletcher nr1 merc on all accounts. Teams of 5 fletchers would decimate any opponent, it would be trivially easy to blow stickies up in people’s faces, and just as easy to set up unavoidable spawncamp traps.

I think the main point of lock on in general is to simply counter the coresponding augment that makes deployables react 30% slower. How that particular augment works with fletcher? I don’t know since his stickies aren’t activated by enemies anymore.

THIS ! This. This. SO much this !

I though I were crazy when it happened to me once, and then it happened to me again, and again, and again and again and again. Having his own stickies that just disappear by a sort of game breaking RNG trick is so rage inducing that I almost had the urge to throw my computer through the window a couple of times. Especially when dealing with important targets. I can’t count the number of targets that just unpunishedly stomped even if I stuck and detonated my bombs on their face ! And twice !

I really hope this will be fixed as soon as possible, as well as all the augments that do not work or have no effect following the merc used : Flying Pig, Lock On on Fletcher, Potent Packs on Sparks. Those glitches already exist since way too long.

The bug where sticky bombs vanish after being stuck on an enemy seems to have gotten worse with the latest update. That might just be bad luck on my part though. I played Fletcher almost exclusively on the last update and only noticed it a handful of times. Since the newest update, I have pretty much stopped playing him because of that bug. Maybe I’m just better at sticking enemies now so I notice it a lot more.

There’s nothing worse than running up behind a rhino, sticking his ass with 2 stickies and waiting for the funniest moment to blow them (I usually shoot at his feet to make him turn to me, then blow him sky high when he turns to face me) only to have them be duds. Resulting in me being mowed down like grass and looking like an idiot.

I feel like I encountered this bug less since last patch; but then again i’ve been relying more on blowing stickies mid-air rather than trying to get them attached to people.

This bug also applies to respawning: by default all your stickies remain in place (also attached to enemies) but very often they will disappear if you are forced to spawn with the new wave.

Imo this bug makes fletcher unplayable in Comp, similarly to Fragger nade’s not blowing up (though this is way more rare). Comp game can’t rely on your game not bugging out, when you’ve just were able to deal 100 damage to an enemy

It has just happened to me again ! Stuck a stickybomb on the top of the head of an Aura. Made it explode : nothing ! I could have took out two people at once with that sticky, but a somewhat superior force decided to not award me my plainfully deserved kill for stucking a sticky bomb on Aura.

This needs a fix ASAP.

Just threw a stickybomb towards proxy… “stuck” OH YEAH! … then nothing happened when I used detonator :smiley:
