most fletchers typically would like to open up with a sticky: if you manage to bum rush them and prevent fletcher from juking you around corners he will be stuck with sticky/detonator out. Using stickies while being in direct line of sight is very ineffective, too slow to survive, even if you get a direct 100 damage.

Shotguns are good but
a) most players dont use it
b) they aren’t good enough to survive being caught with your pants down.

Definitely a situational tactic, if fletcher has ‘just’ disappeared behind a corner, you are already too late, and rushing him is the exact opposite of what you want to do.
Meh. Those Phantom you kept killing over and over again where probably the “katana rush” type. Knowing how strong Fletcher is at short range and how it’s dangerous to rush him mindlessly, it’s no surprise that they ended stuck at their own spawn in foetal position, crying for a desperate nerf.

Against Fletcher, keep your distances. People, is it really that hard ?
Yeah, this is what I don’t get. Fletcher is pretty good but people make him overpowered by being stupid. If I see a Fletcher and the Fletcher sees me and we’re at medium to close range I try to throw off a Fletcher’s stickies through simple erratic movement (long jumping diagonally at him for example similar to what you do to Nader’s who are grenade launcher happy). If I am firing at a Fletcher and they run through a door I DO NOT GO AFTER THE FLETCHER THROUGH THAT DOOR. Go around another direction or just forget he exists for now.

Small things dictate whether or not you are consistently going to beat a Fletcher. You just can’t fight him, much like Sparks, the same way you fight almost every other merc. Most of the time you beat yourself as opposed to the Fletcher player beating you.

Pretty much this. Rhino, Fletcher, Aura… All those mercs require some kind of different approach to get rid of (I am maybe forgetting some of them). But once you nailed how to proceed, it becomes easier. With Fletcher it’s simple, it’s just “fight at mid to long range”.

Comp Fletchers don’t tend to use something as unreliable as a Shotgun.

Personally wish his stickybombs wouldn’t explode midair and would have to stick to a surface/enemy to prime themselves but I do see the high risk-high reward of using them.
