I’m new in DirtyBomb but i already see that something’s not OK with the game - mercs. I really don’t think these mercs should be so OP… I didn’t complain so much before but now?? Fletcher… seriously? Faster defusing, planting, repairing with huge damage and what else?.. STICKY BOMBS FOR FREE! Yes! But let’s lalk about other mercs - Fragger. When you play with Proxy or other mercs with shotgun, Fragger is immortal for you… You just can’t kill him no matter what, he has so much HP and his weapon is a joke, and grenade ofc. doing more damage than proxy’s mines and you can just throw it so no need to think how to put it like Proxy has to. And finally - skyhammer. I wouldn’t really complain about him if not his airstrike. It’s reeeeaaaallllly not fair, especially when he’s in defenders. Cooldown on this ability should be raised or damage reduced. I don’t know what you think about it, it’s just my opinion.
Fletcher, Fragger and Skyhammer
I haven’t seen much of Fletcher but the concensus on the forums seems to be he’s been nerfed and is pretty weak at the moment.
Fragger has also been nerfed, quite alot. You can no longer score easy 2-hit kills with the LMG and grenades are easier to dodge.
Airstrike is not OP. It’s easy to avoid and it has over a 1 minute cooldown. The problem is when people stack Skyhammers. I agree on that it does too much damage on the EV. Same as Arty.
So yeah, I guess I disagree.
Fragger will go down in 2 - 3 shotgun hits if you aim well. Which shouldn’t be too difficult, considering how slow he is.
Consider also that you really shouldn’t be engaging him fairly. Fragging is sort of what he does, and if you try to do it better than him, you’re going to have a bad time. If he knows you’re coming, there’s no shame in rethinking your approach. Otherwise, get in behind him, use your speed and mobility to your advantage, leave mines for him - and aim for his head.
Airstrikes are ridiculously easy to avoid, and are most useful as area denial and for disabling the EV. EV damage seems to have been reduced, too, unless I’m completely mistaken ( I could be ).
What’s important to keep in mind about airstrikes is that they always hit perpendicular to the direction the marker was thrown from ( and always … right to left, is it? ), as indicated by the red line painted on the ground. If you see this, move away perpendicular to the line. You don’t have to be very far away to be out of range if you move off to the sides. If you run along the line, you’re far more likely to die.
Airstrikes can be annoying if you have no way of noticing the marker before it’s too late. For instance, if there’s a marker in front of the last defender spawn on Chapel, you could end up in a situation where you spawn, run out, and instantly get killed. That can happen, and is something you just have to expect.
mercs are not, and never will be in this game balanced for 1v1 duels.
PLay as Proxy? Be smart, use mines, use your speed and mobility. Dodge. Annoy, Run around them.
PLay as Fragger? Well…still try to be smart =) Use your nades, Dont let shotgun mercs get close, so that they can run around and drop a mine under you feet.
well. every single mercs has his strong points and his weak points.
Benefit from strong ones, and minimise the weak ones.
