Flashbang enemy icon issue.

(SinDonor) #1

I love using flashbangs. If you can F-bang a big group, it’s +150XP. Sweet. But, one thing I notice when I am F-banged is that I can still move my cross-hairs around and spot enemies thanks to the bright orange class icon and health bar that’s displayed. I’ve gotten quite a few kills while my screen is bright white.

Is this a bug or “as-designed”?

I think if someone is F-banged, they shouldn’t get to see their enemies or icons in anyway until it wears off. Once their vision is back to 100%, then the icons pop back up.

Thanks to modern in-game technology.

Thanks for giving away our secrets Sin. Geez.

It’s a goddamn ridiculously lazy programming but I can thank this bug for the many kills I have had while hipfiring after being flashbanged.

(SinDonor) #5

With the amount of F-bangin’ I’ve been doing recently, I think our enemies benefit more from this bug than we do. I think I throw out 4 fb’s for every 1 thrown my way.

(SinDonor) #6

It’s not lazy programming if it was never specified in the design docs originally. OR, perhaps, they did design this feature on purpose b/c the F-bangs were too effective? I doubt it though. I think it was just either a bug that slipped through or a design oversight.

If it’s a balancing issue, then take out the icons and just shorten the blindness by 0.5-1.0 secs.

(1111) #7

Maybe I worded it wrong but I think it was just a design oversight. It’s not like everyone knows about this and it’s easy to let it slip in.

There is no rational reason for you to see enemies if you’re flashbanged. More so if you don’t really see the enemies, only their health bars.

I concur. I hope someone at SD can chime in. Let us know if it’s As-Designed or a bug. If it is a bug, will it be fixed or is it too low priority to give a hoot?

Flashbangs and their effect on name tags have been patched recently. This was untouched so Id say its intended.

(SinDonor) #10

What was patched about it? It’s still the same since day 1 for me on the 360. I have always been able to see the enemy’s orange logo and health bar while flashed.

I thought this was for Spectators only?

Yeah, I think that was a different fix. That was for people who DIDN’T get flash banged. If an enemy threw a fbang around a corner, and it didn’t get you, enemy names were still disappear off of the screen like when you are fbanged.

So, it would be a complaint of someone without the bright white screen. “Hey, I didn’t get fbanged white screen, but one went off near me and all the name tags still disappeared!”

Mine issue is the exact opposite. When you do get Fbanged, the player icon and health are still visible. IMO they shouldn’t be because it gives away enemy location.

I am well aware of all the stuff you wrote.

Ill quote myself:

Yes, but they got patched for a totally different reason/situation. It is the almost the exact opposite of what I was describing.
