Fixes for the 'body blocking' of objectives

(ProfPlump) #1

It’s such a pain in the arse when a teammate dies while trying to defuse the objective, but then when you go to try and finish off that defuse you can’t because his body is in the way and it makes you ‘help up’ that teammate instead of defusing. Sure, good players know to tap out in these situations to avoid hindering their team, but let’s face it - it’s not a pleasant situation anyway.

Two fixes:

  1. Change it so that the game takes priority over objectives and if you are looking at an objective through a downed teammate, it will prioritise the objective rather than the teammate.

  2. Separate the two key commands for ‘interact’ and ‘help up’ - that way it avoids the issue altogether. It would probably be best to keep the ‘interact’ button as the same key that it always has been and change the ‘help up’ key to a new one - that way there would be less confusion about clicking the wrong button.

Both ideas are good. Personally I would rather have the game take priority for an objective but I see a potential issue with a medic trying to res someone that is next to the objective which would be annoying as well.

This discussion should not die! Definitely not since update is just around the corner! So I shall semi-necro :>

I think simply defusal taking over the helping up should be the way to go, since medic’s should be using their revive (ability 2 button) instead of interract, so such situation you mentioned won’t happen.

Only situation I see this great suggested, much needed new priority (defusal over help-up) would hinder anything, is when there are 3 people on objective: team’s credit medic downed on top of C4, Player X sweating tools off his hands while defusing, and Player Y trying to help up this god-amongst-people- medic. Which he could not do without some finicky since the new priority, but at least that bomb is now not going to go off sending all three of them into three thousand different directions beyond any medic’s repair.

So all in all, for the love and pleasure of all that is good and quacamole’y, please send this suggestion to SplashDamage, Nexon!
