Fixed spread for shotgun.

(Raviolay) #1

Given how wide the spread is on the dam thing, knowing where the pellets are going to end up every shot. Will (hopefully) end the rage I feel when two close range shots miss (or do little damage) due to the spread going mostly in one direction.

(Mustang) #2

Do you mean spread or spread pattern?

(meat) #3

I think he means spread I was testing it out and the spread increases really fast. Using a DB shotgun it would be impossible to shoot skeet with the current spread. So much for my dream of being able to shoot the pigeons when they fly.

(Raviolay) #4

Both given it has almost no range, as some one has removed the choke from the shotgun. If I have to put up with a blunderbuss for a combat shotgun at least it should be predictable to a fault.

Edit the pattern seems to be the same.

(Nail) #5

shot pattern should be oval and predictable

(Raviolay) #6

Looks like a star ATM.

(Nail) #7

nobody uses that kind of brake, most combat shotguns are used for breaching locks, otherwise they have a duckbill brake or similar, short wide spread

(Rex) #8

Could anyone explain this thread to me?

(Raviolay) #9

OK the shotgun fires in star pattern (that should be oval), this pattern appears to be fixed. What appears to be randomized however, is the concentration of pellets within the pattern. The concentration of pellets seems to move further away from the center of the crosshair, after each successive shot. The concentration is typically skewed towards a single direction within the star pattern. This may or may not be due to the bullet decals not appearing as intended.

TLDR
If needs must keep the pattern the same, but have the concentration of pellets within fixed with no randomization & adjust damage values accordingly to feedback.

(Protekt1) #10

Maybe smaller spread but eliminating all spread removes the point of ADS.

(Raviolay) #11

Personally I would plump for reduced damage fall off at range instead accuracy. In fact I would have all the guns do that so in encourages the use of ADS at range.

As I understand you mean removing the scaling of the cone of fire after each shot? <- I’ve updated the game so I can’t try the shotty to check the pattern :o
It’s added for the weapon balance I guess if you remove it, the firerate should be adjusted aswell?

Pretty much yes, though the damage values may be easier to tweak. Most of the shotgun nerfing came about when most of the guns were not as accurate as they are now. I would much rather have a predicable accurate shotgun that fires slow, with a longer weapon switch time. To stop pulling a single shot off then switching to a pistol to finish the job.
