First Person Rotation Footsteps...

(PixelTwitch) #1

When you rotate your view in Dirty Bomb there is a delay of around 200ms and then you hear footsteps as your third person model turns so the body a lines up with the aim. In theory this is not really a problem but I would much prefer hearing an instant “scuff” style sound to the footsteps that can be distracting. Also, I would be interested to know if simply moving your rotation while crouched in a corner would make the footsteps audible for other players? This would make checking multiple spots while remaining quiet almost impossible?

Its a small thing really but I think a small scuff sound noise could be quite cool and maybe even to other players around you if quiet enough. I just cannot count the number of times I have turned because I hear footsteps caused by me turning and it can also be quite distracting and masks the sounds of other peoples footprints.

Almost as annoying as the knife sound right in back of you when no one is there!

The footstep sounds are currently based off the 3rd person animation. The 3rd person character model does not constantly step as you turn, actually only playing the turn animation (taking two steps round) after so many degrees. Unfortunately yeh, that means there are times where it feels you should be hearing step sounds but don’t so is a little diconnected (I did notice it the other day myself), will consider what solution there could be.
