First MMO's now FPS. Cash Cow market = bad game flood

(Tinygod) #1

WOW started a MMO craze. Developers saw MMO = money and now we are flooded with crap MMO’s. We buy them, try them and shelve them in a month. I have a library of dead MMO’s on my book case and in my steam downloads to prove it.

COD and HALO started a revolution in First Person Shooters, and now we have crap like this flooding out, and this is just the beginning, it will get worse.

IMO, buy Single Player RPGS and Platformers. The developers know they aren’t making a ton of money, so they don’t rush out crap games. Look at the Witcher and Braid. Amazing games, that were made as labors of love. They knew they were targeting a niche and they didn’t care. They wanted to make those games, the games mattered to them, and so they were good.

I think i’ll stick with TF2 and CS for now, and let the new FPS war wind down before I make any more major purchases in this genre. I’m already not MMOing, as I am waiting for Guild wars 2.

Dude you just said yourself you are going to stick with TF2 and CS so please go and play them and leave us who enjoy the game to enjoy it…

Also COD and HALO a revolution… Just because a game is easy to be good at doesn’t make it a good game or indeed a revolutionary game.

They made a lot of money and thus started a revolution in the industry. I never said they were revolutionary games, in their design.

Also, is English not your first language, or are you just incompetent?

PS: my 60 dollars, bought me the rite to come here and bother you, don’t like it, ask SD to give me a refund.

Slightly unnecessary sweety?

That to me translates to COD and HALO are revolutionary games.

PS (because we are being very formal here) You’re not bothering me, I just feel sorry for you being so small with your CS, TF2 and Single player RPGs.

Love you.

Any single statement, taken out of context can translate badly kid.

Read the entire post, and you’ll see that I implied they were revolutionary only in their ability to make money, and not in their design. Gotta learn to read the whole post.

Oh children and their attention spans.

See I can patronize for effect too.

Patronizing for effect!!

I read the whole post me ol treacle and still it reads that you believe COD and HALO as revolutionary game.

Please carry on with the patronizing I quite enjoy the fact you believe you are acting like the adult out of the two of us, even when you come on the forum crying like a little girl because you never liked a game and believe others are much better. boo hoo.

Or when you come to a thread you don’t agree with, only to push your opinion as the law. I think I’ll stick around, and make a negative post every 2 hours until the game dies.

Thanks

Ok lovely I look forward to more troll posts from our troll of the day.

CoD, Halo, Gears and the like sell well because they are easy. The thing is, they started a trend of making shooters easier in hopes of reaching astronomical sales. So you could say they were revolutionary, although not necessarily in a good way.

(Tinygod) #14

my point exactly

(iezza) #15

Operation flashpoint:CWC Ftw! i still play that game along with carnivores 2 :P. i was 2 years old when they were released :O!

So what you’re saying is that Valve is not concerning with making money off of crap? Cause last time I checked TF2, the gigantic horde of people who waste money on hats that they feel compelled to pay for so that their character looks different from everyone else’s, crap is making them a LOT of money.
Also along the lines of only buying single player rpgs and platformers…some of us have friends. That we like to play games with. I know weird right?
My honest opinion is that TF2 is crap and is now, as said, an MMO.
CS is outdated and filled with a Bro-munity but still fun every now and then.
Brink is a great game that is something new and aside from a rocky launch, will blow all other games out of the water.

last time i checked that was all just hats and clothes, and all of them can be found for free. thats what DLC SHOULD BE, extra stuff that makes you look nice if you want it. Not game modes and actual story content.

Valve does DLC right, and good for them for making a profit on a game that is that old. Last time I checked the game is like 10 bucks and awesome.

Funny because Portal 2 launched with over $80 of junk DLC. That’s doing DLC right? I’d have much rather had challenge rooms as part of the game from the start instead of having to wait for future DLC.

Also, Team Fortress was a Quake mod originally. Valve merely bought the idea after TFC, they didn’t create it.

So you’re saying that if SD gave you more stuff to make your guy look pretty in the DLC you would play?
Also there are weapons, not just hats and clothes, so check again.
And TF2 is not awesome. Its…bleh. Lets give you 9 pre-defined classes that have no growth what so ever.
