Hi there
I’m new in Dirty Bomb, played few games and I would like to buy 1st merc. I would like someone with assault rifle or something like this - mid distance. I’m thinking about:
Arty - his Artillery Strike looks pretty nice, he’s got ammo packs, but his weapon shoots 1 bullet per shot
Fragger - he looks nice too, but he is quite slow and has only granades
Stoker - what about him? met him only once in game, his TIMIK-47 looks nice, he’s got ammo station and molotovs
Nader - well, she’s not assault, but she’s faster and has granade launcher
so… which one of them would be best option for a beginner? Or perhaps someone else?
First merc
Stoker is best for beginner. Dont buy Arty, he sucks. Nader and Fragger are good choices if you know the basics of the game.
I’d suggest Fragger if we go for those you mentioned. Stoker is pretty fun I guess (don’t have him) but since you want to buy your first merc I’d advise against another supporter. Better go for an objective specialist like Fletcher or Proxy. Many people say Bushwacker is the most well balanced but I personally don’t like him that much.
But Assault is good too. You might even try Nader. Her ability is really good, she’s faster then Fragger and SMGs are really good in Dirty Bomb.
But all logic aside: Get Sawbonez, he’s the man!
Thx for answers guys. I was quite determined to buy Stoker after your posts, but… I’m wondering - is it worth to buy a merc, when i don’t have any card to him?
Heck, yeah man. Loadout cards aren’t everything. You can still perform well without a card. Anyway you can always save up 17.5K and buy yourself a loadout card from the store. That’s only 2 or 3 days of playing.
Ok, thx
The question is now - when does the rotation change? I heard, that Stoker will be in next one, but i don’t rly know if its correct
As far as I’m aware (pls forgive if wrong), free rotations change every two weeks, so it caould change around Nov.20
Without starting new thread: any ideas for 2nd merc?
Nader would be nice - fast and that granade launcher
but i’m also thinking about some medic - Sawbonez or Phoenix? Phoenix - Healing pulse looks better for me, coz can heal few ppl at same moment and he’s faster, but isn’t his weapon weaker than by Sawbonez?
Eventually some objective specialist - which one?

Nader can be fun but she “only” has 120 HP, which can lead to frustrations because of Fraggers “massive” 150 HP, if you get killed by him alot. Also you have to train with her to be succesfull with her nade launcher, just shooting it at random locations can be good in a Pub but not if you want to get “real” with her. Martyrdom can be much fun, for you and only you.
Pheonix/Sawbonez
I personally prefer Sawz by a Lightyear, but thats mostly due to the time i spent playing ET.
After All the Crotzni is the Weapon of choice of mine with Sawz. Neat SMG and the best he can get.
Phoenix in my Opinion can be strong, but can be a downfall to his team too. The reason i do not use Phoenix is the need to hold the pulse to heal more HP. As Sawz i just drop a Medpack and if i dont take damage i will have full HP in like 2-3 seconds after that, for Phoenix you have to hold your pulse for 4+ seconds to archieve the same. Also if i land a direct hit with the Medpack my Teammate instaheals 20HP.
Phoenix and Nader can both get the Kek-10, which is in my Opinion and as it seems for the majority of most other players too, the best SMG in the Game at current State (Check some Polls on the Weapons Boards if you want to know what weapons the community likes too). It can hold 45 rounds, has a high RoF, nearly no recoil and is pretty precise.
Objective Specialist
I would recommend Bushwacker. He is a well rounded Engi and he too can get the Kek-10, his turrets are annoying af for enemies and he has an epic Mustache.
Proxy is good Engi too and only costs 30k Creds. She is very fast (nearly as fast as Aura), can have Shotguns (I don’t like them) or the Hochfir, which is a awesome SMG too. 45 Rounds, nearly no Recoil and i think the third highest Rate of Fire of all Guns in the Game (Just Rhino’s MG and Mounted MGs fire faster). Her mines can be used to annoy enemies or to make deadly traps. But she “only” has 90 HPbut because of that there is nearly nothing more satisfying then killing a Fragger in Close Quarter 1vs1 with a Proxy.
I love Proxy more then any other Merc in this Game, but i would still recommend Bush over her at current State.
Thx a lot! I’ve got Stoker already, so I didn’t choose Nader and I bought Sawbonez, played few games, rly fun
and about Proxy, it’s free to play at the moment, I don’t really like shotguns, but i just got a card to her with SMG - awesome
Maybe you can also consider buying nader. I have both stoker and nader, and their play styles are quite similar, in my opinion. Stoker is like if you took all five grenades and make them explode in one area for 10 seconds. However, the drawback is an extra 15 seconds of cooldown, and it doesn’t go as far.
I’m going to buy Nader as next merc I think
(or Fragger, he’s annoying as hell with his HP)
btw. what’s exactly difference between, for example, bronze and cobalt card? Both of them have 3 perks actually
oh, and gives it more HP after revive if I hold defibrillator longer?
Totally disagree with Boorseye. Nader and Stoker play quite differently. Stoker is support and can only use molotov every once in a while. Where Nader is exlusively assault and she can spam her nades, then finish off with the gun.
You should also be moving around more with Nader than with Stoker.
Difference between bronze and up are entirely cosmetic. In terms of game play, there is no difference. You just look more like a fashion icon.
I would have to agree with Boorseye on this one, Nader is best when holding down choke points with her grenades and assaulting indoor areas like bridge and underground just like Stoker.
Honestly I would recommend Bushwacker because he’s a pretty good objective specialist that’s versatile for both offense AND defense. Also because he was my first buy since he was in the rotation at the time and I like playing with him.
Honestly, the most important thing about this is that you have played with these mercs and know which ones fit your playstyle. Usually these rotations are long enough that by the end of each rotation, if you play enough you should have enough to buy one merc, and usually I just buy the merc I was most comfortable playing with during the rotation. Don’t be me and buy Vassili only to find out I hate sniping!!!
Best beginner merc? You have to see in free rotation I remember not being able to decide between phantom and phoenix. Played phoenix in free rotation, made choice. Watch gameplay videos too!
I already have Bushwhacker, bought him instead of Nader. Didn’t play him earlier, and my first few games were like “wtf have i done, why i bought him”
but after few next games it was much better, and I have to say that it was very good purchase
now I’m thinking about 4th merc. Since I have a medic and an engie, I would like to have some typicall killer I think. Maybe Fragger or Thunder, but I’m afraid that they are too slow for me… Maybe Phantom?
Nader can’t get the Kek-10.

Sorry do not play her that much, confused it with Hochfir

Can confirm that fact
Stoker/Fragger, useful on every map, Arty is extremely useful on chapel and other open maps but otherwise useless, unless you like his weapon set (his taunts are delicious though).
Nader = Very, very, very,VERY good choice, but not only do you need good aim/foresight, but you need to pair that up with some serious aggression to put the enemy in there place, also crotzni is love/crotzni is life!
