i found out back in the older threads that there are actually 1st gens that are better than their 2nd Gen counterpart.
why is that? and which cards are they?

Can’t say which ones as I haven’t found any that I think are better yet, but I know that from 1st to 2nd Gen there were several perks that disappeared so it’s probably personal preference for one old perk over a new one.
i can only think of PDP Vassili, 1st gen P13 being better than 2nd gen P13
it’s mostly about personal preference anyway
Typically the Gen 1 cards had a lot more loadouts that has melee oriented augments on them than their Gen 2 counterpart, there also were a lot of cards with the augment Cool on it that most people did not find useful, but some just fit a playstyle better before than after the update.
Red-Eye’s G41 for example. The Gen 1 was the only card with both Chopper and Quick Slash as well as Try Hard for extra hp, and it had the beckhill too. Gen 2 removed those perks so it’s no longer a melee oriented card. It’s fun card to use if you enjoy melee. The Gen 2 still has Quick Slash, but it’s more augmented towards using the rifle instead of the knife.
Sparks loadouts got a little weird, with cards almost entirely rehauled; in fact, most of them are just called Service Agent for some reason. You could pretty much just look at the Gen 1 and Gen 2 loadouts as 17 completely different configurations, as the weapons and augments were pretty much all changed aside from the most popular 383. The 343 Modern Agent is my pick for best melee loadout for Sparks with the cricket bat, Chopper, and Flying Pig. 373 Superb Agent is also a good card for a very mobile and up close playstyle, being able to quickly switch weapons, get a melee dmg bonus, and reload while sprinting; it also gets a cricket bat.
Let’s also look at Phantom’s premiere card, C94. The only change from Gen 1 to Gen 2 is replacing Cool with Focus. I personally use the Gen 1 version, not only because I have it in ReV, but because Cool fits with the playstyle I like with Phantom, going invisible and sitting on turrets waiting for people to run by thinking that noone is on the turret, and the BAM! You surprise them with an onslaught of turret fire they weren’t expecting!
TL;DR: Just take a look at both Generations and see which cards fit your playstyle best and go with that.
some of the cards are better as gen 1. For instance Sawbones’s crotzni with potent packs, drilled and focus. They changed that card in such a way that you can’t get crotzni with drilled anymore. Meh*
CR42 Sawbonez Gen 1 > CR42 Gen 2.
Drilled/Potent Packs/Focus is so much better.
I’m amazed I got a disagree on this despite it being said from all Sawbonez players that losing potent packs was a shit idea.
Phoenix C41, CR43, CR71 and C83 have some advantages which could make them a good choice if you prefer those augments. Nader’s SM72 was probably better then too.

The card names are actually based on the types of perks available. 2 support perks and 1 defensive perk = “service”, also “agent” comes from having machine pistols for primaries (SMGs=operative, rifles=rifleman etc). I also believe there was a logic in 1st gen loadouts where certain mercs would have access to certain types of augments, so for instance Arty was the only fire support with defensive perks (hence why he somehow had Spares in some cards lol, in spite of it making zero sense on a fire support).
BL73 aura has healing reach (if I recall correctly) and quickeye, way better than the new one, which has an augment that does nothing (potent packs)

there are some gen 1 cards listed
Bushwhacker’s gen 1 kek and selbstadt loadout is better than the gen 2 with those weapons
@Dysfnal i think you are mistaken, aura first cards had quick eye and get up in one card or healing reach only on the other (medic perks) the bl41 had get up and quicker cooldown which hasnt changed.
There’s also the Gen 1 Tornado agent for Sparks. Flying pig and Springy are amazing on her.
The 343 is beautiful btw, so Great job @KUST__LunarTM for including it.
Also… MANY of the original gen 1 Arty and Kira cards are better than the gen 2 cards. I definitely prefer some of the more offensive drilled explody combos on the first gen loadouts than the second ones. Especially some of the arty ones. I don’t care about giving people more ammo if I can reload faster, etc.
I wouldn’t spend anything on this game, I love the free2play…unless you have to pay to win in this game.
liking this game
doesnt like to support developer and feels entitled to get things for free
Pick one and only one brah.
Any Proxy with “Try hard” and Bush Bl73. Engineer gets rewarded for risky “suicide” defuse and plant(repair) - is a main utility of that augment IMO. Not sure about Bush, but kills from mine s didn’t count and let you tank yourself while still getting kills via the ability.
Fletcher’s H63 is better than its analogue in Gen 2 - H61.(“Drilled” + “Double time” + “Unshakable” > “Fail safe” + “double time” + “bomb squad”)
Red eye’s G41 was a unique melee oriented loadout. Sadly it was removed in Gen2 so i’ll never get it in Cobalt. D41 was kinda interesting too. D75 is still his best Dreiss loadout although D72 in gen 2 is more desirable for some people.
Sparks’ 373 and 343 were interesting melee LOs; 181 was funny for pub runs.
I’d prefer Rhino’s LOs with “Drilled” were actually underestimated. Shotgun isn’t redundant weapon on Rhino, I use it a lot if i play in attack; “Guardian angel” on 2 of those let you escape some arty strikes. “Looter”, “pineapple jungler” and “try hard” were very situational but 30 hp med pack, 10 hp after bad luck or kill steal streak and throwing some nades away isn’t exactly an empty slot. I think i’d still prefer his gen1 H63 over many gen2 LOs if i didn’t have to spend absurd 17k for bronze.
Funny thing, for some reason “Drilled” that boosted his 2d and 3d weapon was removed from fat scout, but there is “Quick slash” that boosts his 4th weapon exists in gen2. Out of Sparks, Skyhammer, Vassili and Rhino, the fat scout is the one who wouldn’t use this augment, and he got 2 LOs with “Quick slash” in gen 2…
When will they add gen 3?
I sure would love to have another goal, of collecting all new 171 loadouts (or 180, if new merc’s released).
