First-ever Dirty Bomb Gameplay Video Released!

(KlausMorgenholz) #21

Bomb planting seems more like brink than old style ET and ETQW. I prefer the old ones, as you could drop the bomb and leave it for a teammate to arm it, OR leave several bombs as decoys, so your opponents would not know which one to defuse :penguin:

Looks great. Can’t wait to play.
Yea, but no ironsighting seemed pretty effective too. Atleast, they showed almost only footage of no ironsighting. Wether or not this is in purpose remains te be seen.

All in all I’m pretty satisfied and thrilled after this video. The only thing that kinda put me off was how fast people seemed to die. It’s pre-alpha footage so I’m not worried. I also really support alpha and beta testing and I hope they find a decent mix of people (Skilled, unskilled, rambo, teamplayer, support, …) with a good mix of different computers.

On a sidenote, am I the only one who instantly checked his email right after signing up for a chance in beta? :p
Yeah the TTK seemed fairly short to me from what looked like body shots most of the time.

It also seemed a little less “movement-y” than QW or ET…less strafing etc if you get me ??.

I think that is mainly to do with how fast the weapons look to be firing tbh.
I’m just so used to the old ET slow fire and QW’s somewhat slow fire (for some weapons… :P) Which seems to give time for movement imo (if you don’t cop 3 HS in a row that is)

It is pre-alpha tho so no harm no foul here, there is plenty of time for things to be adjusted / tweaked like you said, and it does look nice so far to me. (Bar what I said above)

Problem is that we can speculate only so far. There’s so many variables we don’t know. Perhaps it’s just not effective to strafe a lot during combat. (which would make me sad). However, overall gameplay seemed quite fast and a lot of complaints from Brink have been adressed. (I’ve made an analysis and it surprised me how much they’ve actually improved. Examples: Multiple people planting C4, Dropping ammo and medpacks on the ground, Ammo/Medpacks/grenades in a weaponbank) These don’t really affect gunplay, but makes it more enjoyable (or less frustrating) to actually play.

definitly agree +1

Looks pretty cool.

(JackPipsam) #27

Can’t wait.

(Xyphen) #28

Just hope that FOV will be ajdustable . I like it highh

(Ski) #29

Hope the iron sights actually work in the game. Players in the vid never use them at all.

(Darksider) #30

I’ll give the game give the benefit of the doubt, Honestly I saw nothing that excites me in that gameplay, same old everyday gun fights basically. Prove me wrong Splash Damage.

(KlausMorgenholz) #31

It works pretty much like in ETQW, as far as I can see, though this gameplay looks more permissive than the former for those who chose not to use ironsights.

(Zarlor) #32

Very exciting! It’s looking very promising. There are many gameplay elements I see in there that I like. I hope the feel of the firefights are as good as they look.

I am going to buy this game in some fashion, but I’m not sure just yet which level I’ll start out at. Also, if I continue to play the game I will continue to pay some nominal fee over time as well. I really want to support Splash Damage in their F2P vision of Dirty Bomb. I REALLY liked what I read in the post introducing the new gameplay video. The vision is spot-on with what I wanted to see. I hope you guys can execute on that. For years I have been disappointed with new multiplayer games. They have all become somewhat boring and not exciting like some of your older titles still are. We all are desperate for a great modern teamplay shooter!

(Metal-Geo) #33

Everything looked very smooth. Spectacular.!

Day one or day beta for me, definitely. Really looking forward to this.

Interesting point. I loved the way it was implemented in ET and QW. You could have a small dot in the center, with a ring or a translucent disc around to give you an idea of how much your shot were spreading. That combined the best of both worlds greatly.

In points:

 1. Nicely written starting-post by some SD employee/es, I would like to congratulate you.

 2. Pay what you think it’s worth - in 4 options: fine, but I’ll have to play the final version first.

 • Watched trailer.
 1. Enough ET-like to like it :). You are on the good way to make something even better!

 2. Engie planting dynamite*, instead of soldier - we are talking seriously again :P. Ok, enough about ET.

 3. Feels a bit counter-strikeish, but it’s ok.

 4. Sniper rifle - good to see it made it into the game.

Generally - I like it, it seems pretty much good.
