First day impressions. (PS3)

Hey everyone, so there is quite a few reveiws, some positive, some…not so much.

NOTE: i downloaded a patch when i first played so it may have fixed any problems people have been having.

I have been following Brink from around when it was first released, been on the beth forums for months, discussed just about everything to discuss, now i finally got a copy, played for a hour or two, heres my reveiw.

So first off, i enjoyed it very much.

I played the three first levels of the security campagin on easy, first level was very easy and fast, second level was somewhat harder, ussaly near the end part because the enemy bots all massed up at the extraction point and a few hacked command posts, and my teammate bots were off killing, taking command posts and what not, a few helped me get to the objective.

Third was container city, i liked this map the most out of the three i played, mind you i did not fully explore the maps i played or fully experienced them.

Anyways it was more open, alot of flanking points and such, but i leveled up quite a bit so i had heavg body type mowing down enimies with my MG, remember it was on easy, i also had turrets at my disposal as i mainly played as an engineer.

From what i have seen the maps are some what small but again, have not seen all the maps and did not explore the ones i played.

Now the AI, they are quite stuipd fom wha ive seenon EASY, most of them group up together in a main force, pushing through to get to the objective, they don’t flank as much as SD said that i have noticed.

Customizaion is very well done, ive seen a few more things then i knew about, so customizations is what i expected, had some fun creating my character although most options are locked, at the beggining, but you unlock them pretty quick.

The SMART sysgem is well done, it gets some getting used to, i got the basics down so far.

Now performance wise, i had no lag at all, graphics are quite good, no problems so far.

Now since psn is down i cannot talk about multiplayer but i asume it will be 10X as good as single player.

I enjoyed this game very much in the few hours that i played and anyone who has followed this game at all, or enjoyed any class based shooters should pick this up.

With SD’s past in gaming shows that they will most likley continue to support the game very well, with patchs and DLCs.

So thats my reveiw. Questions, commentsor concerns? Post below!

I dont know why people complained about bots so much honestly. They were ruthless with me. and they were on normal.

I have only played on easy, as i mentioned multiple times. I am going to try the other modes tommarow mabey and see how the bots differ.

On easy i killed them no problem and rareley died, first level i never died infact.

The friendly bots are stuck on idiotic mode while the enemy AI fluctuates from Easy to Borg Collective meets Skynet.

They all camp out one objective and force a stalemate because its literally you vs 8. They all suddenly are 360 degree aware of everything with perfect aim and every one of them is super buffed

Its just inconsistent and sometimes frustrating

Single player could’ve been vastly better if it did away with some of the multiplayer touches, like post round menus or map selection…if it didn’t square you off vs a rival team but instead waves of randomized enemies that would make it feel more like a traditional single player game, while still allowing people to drop in and out…or hell some scripted events and cutscenes and REAL mid level dialogue to immerse you and further the plot. Just remove those touches from the dedicated multiplayer freeplay mode.

Yes, i was wondering what happend to stuff like scripted events, if you watch the container city gameplay that was released by SD awhile ago, you can see the characters actually talking, and the cutscene at the end was not in the game sadly. Why did SD remove all this stuff that would have made Brink’s singleplayer MUCH better, instead of a multiplayer game vs bots.

Im hoping they can add it back in a future patch. But i doubt it, tho im sure tht will fix many other problems, such as the difficulty ad bot AI.
