Could you explain to me whats the logic behind buffing fragger ? Why would you buff the strognest merc in the game while nerfing dreiss to the point that it isnt even worth using ?
I suppose I can’t really, because from where I’m sitting we slightly nerfed him. Are you talking about something other than the Frag Grenade change?
No, i talk about grenade change and while it is a nerf to his edge cases (mostly important for comp matches), it is a pretty big buff to his overall dps on public servers.
Now if you took away one of his nade while leaving it at 30 sec cd then sure it would be a decent nerf, but you didnt. I am simply annoyed that fragger is an issue for over a year now, yet some things that werent even a problem (dreiss, pdp) get pretty heavy nerfs for no obvious reasons. I also cant understand why are you so careful to not overnerf fragger, yet at the same time you dont mind doing some heavy nerfs of things that were less of a problem for shorter period of time.
I might sound like a dick but i am simply getting tired of fragger being no.1 merc for a year now (with vass being a major problem as well, but at least its less common) and i just dont see it getting changed for another year with “nerfs” like that, with that said i honestly appreciate your reply, so thank you for that.
It’s still early, but the change has had a pretty big effect on his Merc stats. But balancing is never, ever “done”!
See, that is why I stopped playing DB - the nerf rush because of some outcry of 2-3 idiots who can’t figure out how to play a game with grenades will never end. It is clear to me that those dumbasses will never stop moaning until all nades are removed. After that they will switch their attention to a next merc to spoil and make it a general W:ET-like merc with almost no weapon and no perk/skill differences. Yup, calling a ton of top players of this game idiots just because they consider fragger overpowered (because topping charts and being mandatory merc in competition isnt indication of anything) is really smart, not to mention that a lot of changes happened when no one asked for them or how we whine for months and some things still arent getting nerfed.

And to see arty or kyra in game…well… its very,very rare.
I would focus on those mercs no one is playing. Something wrong is with them. dreiss ar or timik or br16, some secondaries are so useless weapons I dont even bother to play with them no matter what.
looks like majority of players play with shotguns.

doesn’t really look that way to me. Imo, none of the secondaries are useless, either.

Equally droning on about one merc and his nade gets kindof wearing. It’s one nade, on a 17s recharge. You have a penalty for cancelling a cook and a slower speed.
Fix the maps that make the nade so necessary, rather than complaining about the merc…or just take Ashogs advice and make a stock merc with SMG / hitscan because thats the only skill appreciated?

No its not just the nade, people, including me, wouldnt whine so much about fragger if he didnt had a ton of hp, the best gun in the game and his loadouts arent half bad either. Fragger is simply badly designed, you just dont put a high damage ability on a merc that its already a powerhouse, it just doesnt make sense.
You cant possibly belive that SD will rework every single map to make nades less powerful do you ? (and even without nades, decent loadouts, best guns and 150hp still put him above a lot of mercs).
I also could never understand why people defend fragger, since his kit is as generic as it gets, he is simply overloaded with power without any interesting mechanics.
Fragger is meant to frag, or is he not? Didnt play many “comp” games yet but to me he’s just as balanced as other mercs, yes you can use him solo and own the house if you are a good player, but you can be overpowered when facing any decent team, I (personnaly) had much more fun and frags with bush or fops guy (cant remember names, too much names on this game…) than fragger, but when I want to play solo I take fragger indeed.
The point is : “does a team of full fragger can take down any team around?”, if not then its not OP… Complaining about one merc in a team based game is just a nonsense to me, (I might be wrong here if the answer to my previous question is YES each time)
The thing is, balancing a game is much more complicated than nerfing / buffing mercs one by one IMO.
Anyway, I’m still getting the mechanics of this game because I couldnt play for too much time, but to me it seems quite balanced as it is, even in beta, need to play comp to see the flaw.

Back in the day where there was no merc limit in cup matches, pretty much every team had 2 fragger with pocket healers and some even had 3. He got a bit weaker since then but i bet that most teams would still use 2 fraggers most of the time. He simply have no real drawbacks unlike other combat based mercs.
