Finding entity position with origin.

I was just wondering,

If you take the tracemap of your map, and choose an entity, will it be possible, at all, to know where on the tracemap that entity is located, using the entities origin key?

For example, you take your tracemap, choose a commandpost and look at it’s origin. Can you even know where on the tracemap that commandpost is located using the origin?

I don’t think it’s possible because the origin is based on the position in the map editor / game world, while the tracemap is only part of that world.
You don’t get the entire black void around your tracemap…

I thought it would be cool for my script program ETScript, to load the entities that you might use (that have script or targetnames) and to be able to show the tracemap with the entities location.

unsure… lol

but if you take the mapcoordsmaxs and mapcoordsmins,
with that you could use the origin, I guess it should fit perfectly, since if mapcoordsmins/maxs are wrong, the comandmap ingame is also incorrect displayed…

mapcoords might help yeah! didn’t even think of that…

I just need some more info on the origin key… Does it relate to the mapcoords?

I am newbie, and my thought is untested…

But I think the x/y pair of the origin key, is 100% related to the mapcoords,
both is based on the same coord system…
Also I see no other way how the engine could place em correctly…
key: origin x y z
