dont know if you intend it or not but

Thanks for comments guys. Good points.
And to the comment about pause possibly breaking your spree, come on. The un-pause has a timer so it’s not like instant. And again, it might screw your spree, but on the other side it can save multiple games… nothing is more annoying that holding last 2 minutes of stopwatch. your mate computer crashing (or he spilling coffee over keyboard) resulting in your loose.

come on… peoples comps crashes very rarely but the pause function will be abused in every game.
my point is that your trading a rare annoyance for an every game pest
But where you exactly see the abuse? That every single game will take 4 to 8 minutes more because both teams will use both their pauses? That’s still better then loosing a game just because of some influence from RL. We can keep the limit to one pause, so in the worse case scenario every game will take 4 minutes more?

4-8 unwanted minutes of nothing in every game is not acceptable to me so we disagree there. further more i believe that it would increase the number of quits and drive people away from comp.
and it also raises the question on who gets to decide when to pause? there is no clear team leader in pub comp should it be a vote? what if the other team doesn’t want a pause what if one guy on your team doesn’t want a pause so he quits, not an unlikely scenario. and dont forget the possibility that you have a troll on your team that uses the pause function when hes not supposed to
the pause function that you suggests introduces several common problems/annoyances but only solves a very specific rare problem. why would you want that?
In Wolfenstein enemy territory, it worked in the way that anyone on the team can type /pause in the console and it pauses the game, then anyone from the team can type /unpause and it un-pauses the game with 10 seconds countdown that’s visible to everyone.
Also as I said, there are 2 pauses allowed per match per team.
This is of course disabled on public servers, but it is like a mandatory function in competitive. Like believe me, this is from my point of view really necessary function for any serious competitive gaming. I cannot see a real tournament without this… Like again, any kind of random RL influence can cost you a game, this is un-acceptable at pro level because something can happen any time (from power outage, spilled drinks, heart attacks whatever…)
I think it’s important to differentiate a competitive vs real competitive.
So yeah, this random competitive queue we play now… whatever… But a real competitive tournaments with real teams?

i see… you are talking more about the pro scene than what we got now… in that case we have been having two separate discussions and none of my points are especially valid…
shit happens i guess
