Few observations from returning player

Just gonna talk about Vassili. I agree that his instagib is very powerful and needs to be nerfed, however I feel like low health targets such as proxy, sparks, aura or kira should still get instagibed by Vassili’s.

Why? Well it’s really not that easy to get headshots on these targets, so imo at least on these targets it should be an instagib. They have insane speed and low health, so it would only make sense that these mercs get instagibed. If fast low health mercs get instagibbed by a vassili I don’t feel bad for em at all, since they shouldn’t be out in the open.

Other mercs which can take more hits with 100hp+ shouldn’t get instagibed however, since it’s just too easy to get the shots off.
This seems reasonable. Although I don’t agree that the smaller classes are that much more difficult to hit (unless they are them caffeine fuelled proxy bunny rabbits). I seem to get the HS on proxy and aura with as much ease as any other class, in fact they are easier to read in game meaning I know that the proxy is running for the repair on that generator so i’ll keep my crossair where her head is and bang, as easy as that. High skilled players though are much harder to read and the rubberised proxy’s are impossible.
Well yeah, when they’re lacking gamesense it sure is easy. But then again, the ones lacking it should be punished for it.

Only class that can instagib huh?..Proxy mines, Airstrikes, Fragger nades, Arty call in if it’s right ontop of you… Then you got things that make gibbing you a given…

Like sticky bombs and nader spams.

Instagib on HS is one of the only things that makes Vas a useful class. People need to learn to accept this already. And yes, a good one can influence a game…A GOOD ONE…a terrible one has no impact…

A terrible medic can still revive people and kill people
A terrible enginer nee can still do the objective and kill people
A terrible fire support can ammo and kill people…
A terrible Vas shoots a lot of pavement and spots people.

Mines are clearly visible and you are given an audio warning when you are close to them. Airstrike give you a visual marker on screen and even show which way they are going to strike, guardian angel even gives you a warning if you are in range of the splash damage. Fraggers nades can’t be thrown far and have to be cooked perfectly to be effective. All of the ones you named give you warnings, but the Vasili thats hiding at the back of the map that kills you while you are moving to new cover or in a gun fight with someone else gives you none of these warnings, hence my reason for not having the insta-gib.

competetive mode should be with team damage enabled
-spawning ammo and all health stations disabled
-all airstrike and sci fi weapons disabled too
-no turrets
-longer respawn times

dont know if you intend it or not but

Thanks for comments guys. Good points.

And to the comment about pause possibly breaking your spree, come on. The un-pause has a timer so it’s not like instant. And again, it might screw your spree, but on the other side it can save multiple games… nothing is more annoying that holding last 2 minutes of stopwatch. your mate computer crashing (or he spilling coffee over keyboard) resulting in your loose.
come on… peoples comps crashes very rarely but the pause function will be abused in every game.

my point is that your trading a rare annoyance for an every game pest
But where you exactly see the abuse? That every single game will take 4 to 8 minutes more because both teams will use both their pauses? That’s still better then loosing a game just because of some influence from RL. We can keep the limit to one pause, so in the worse case scenario every game will take 4 minutes more?
4-8 unwanted minutes of nothing in every game is not acceptable to me so we disagree there. further more i believe that it would increase the number of quits and drive people away from comp.

and it also raises the question on who gets to decide when to pause? there is no clear team leader in pub comp should it be a vote? what if the other team doesn’t want a pause what if one guy on your team doesn’t want a pause so he quits, not an unlikely scenario. and dont forget the possibility that you have a troll on your team that uses the pause function when hes not supposed to

the pause function that you suggests introduces several common problems/annoyances but only solves a very specific rare problem. why would you want that?
In Wolfenstein enemy territory, it worked in the way that anyone on the team can type /pause in the console and it pauses the game, then anyone from the team can type /unpause and it un-pauses the game with 10 seconds countdown that’s visible to everyone.

Also as I said, there are 2 pauses allowed per match per team.

This is of course disabled on public servers, but it is like a mandatory function in competitive. Like believe me, this is from my point of view really necessary function for any serious competitive gaming. I cannot see a real tournament without this… Like again, any kind of random RL influence can cost you a game, this is un-acceptable at pro level because something can happen any time (from power outage, spilled drinks, heart attacks whatever…)

I think it’s important to differentiate a competitive vs real competitive.

So yeah, this random competitive queue we play now… whatever… But a real competitive tournaments with real teams?
i see… you are talking more about the pro scene than what we got now… in that case we have been having two separate discussions and none of my points are especially valid…

shit happens i guess

I don’t have an opinion on any of this stuff but I just wanted to say I appreciate the calm and respectful tone you made your post with.

You can easily spot a Vasilli from across the map. If you can’t see his neon red clothes you’re blind.

(Mister__Wiggles) #28

Or otherwise occupied playing the objective unlike 90% of the vasili players.
