Female Characters

(Profane) #1

Because I am persistent and actually remember the January discussion over Female characters, I would like to remind Splash Damage that some of your potential customers are unhappy.

I very nearly pre-ordered Brink. But I couldn’t quite get over the sheer cynicism of this tiny, little statistic: “Total Unique Characters (including minor tint variations and body types – 102,247,681,536,000,000.”

I see, Splash Damage. You can manage a total of 102 quadrillion variations on avatars, but you can’t make a single, solitary female character? RIGHT ON! Way to encourage female gamers, SD, but I think I’d rather throw my money elsewhere. Ergo, my boycott remains. And if your next game lacks female characters…guess what? Won’t be spending $60 on that either.

Heavy females.

(tokamak) #3

Are you boycotting all games that don’t have a female character?

(kamikazee) #4

This has been discussed before.

SD though about all the different gameplay combinations this would cause due to the different stature and hitbox and declared that it wasn’t high enough on their priority list to make it into the game.

Search around, there are some threads around discussing it with the devs and all.

Dear Lord! Give it a rest already…
Having fun with the game?
Or are a few 30 more pixels on the breast not making the game any more enjoyable for you?

I was thinking woman got rid of men so they put them on the ARK and let them fight and kill each other and if any of the escape and happened to get on the land…the women would slaughter them lol

Dude, I participated in the ‘Reconsider Female Characters’ thread last year for nine bloody pages. I’ve had this argument. I’m a female gamer. I want female avatars. As long as any studio considers female avatars to be purely optional, I will consider my buying their product purely optional. And by ‘optional,’ I mean that my money will be going to studios with a more female-friendly attitude. I can deal with the crappy come-ons and put downs based on my gender when it comes to playing the actual games…but if you want my money, you gotta prove to me you want it.

I’m merely reminding SD that I’m not alone.

Enjoy your game while I play Portal 2.

(madness) #8

damn you must have a very limited choice of games to play…

(DeadEye) #9

Does Portal 2 have a female character?

(KAS--Will) #10

Wow… just… wow… So… what I’m getting is Splash Damage is kinda sexist for not including women in their game?

(Ragoo) #11

True, that’s the most important reason why we can’t have female characters. Females in games always have to be super sexy, but turns out that doesn’t work with heavy females :stuck_out_tongue:

Yes, i can already imagine them…

(DarkangelUK) #13

I didn’t play Portal 1 & 2 or any of the Tomb Raiders cos I couldn’t go a male character.

Its a video game. Its really not the place to be all politically correct. You’re welcome to go play DOA Volleyball. Plenty of boobies for you there.

Ya know, Portal 2 doesn’t have any black guys. Aren’t you gonna complain about that and boycott? Of course not, as long as there’s a character with boobs you’re happy right? Sexist.

I really hope your kidding, it’s a ****ing game and the character is a ****ing avatar, it’s not representative of you.

I assume Guys or any non-whites should be allowed to play Portal 2, following your logic of course.

This has been covered quite extensively on these very forums.
