Feedback : I hate Ahnuhld-12's new reload animation.

There’s something that keeps bothering me with the new animation. It does not feel natural, it does not feel fluid : I really find it ugly. I feel like Fletcher became a robot, or a Nintendo protagonist in a bad CD-I game (you get the reference ?). Some people says that the new reload feels more practical, but it’s not : proof on the videos, the new reload eats much more your screen than our previous reload. It’s especially noticeable during the spin : most of the spin with the old animation happened a bit off screen and with more fluidity. With the new animation the Ahnuhld spins a bit more towards the center of the screen and can block some views. So, clunky animation, worse looking than the old one. And not even more practical ? No thanks, I’ll pass.

I really would like to see that change reverted. Not sure how much people will agree though. If you like the current animation, it’s your opinion and your choice. I won’t criticize it.

Haven’t played the new Ahnuhld myself yet. So no first hand experience. From the videos I get your point but it seems to me that the gun as a whole, is more centered than before which would explain why the rotation is now a bit more in the view compared to before. That looks better to me as a whole compared to the gun to the right of the previous vid.
But to me both animations look fine maybe I would prefer the reload tilt of the first a bit more dunno, if I remember correctly, the main complained with the animation was that it locked you into it for too long. Don’t see how that has changed.

But to more important things, damn that Redeye cobalt with the Dreiss is propably the first one I’ve seen, that I want.

Btw. did you really teabag a incacipated teammate at 2:23 ? You sir should be banned from the game, thats the very definition (by the intro) of “being a dick” :wink: .

Videos are not from me. They’re from @Sniff as I mentionned in the post. All credits belong to him. Anyway I teabag players too : Sniff is a good teacher.

Splash Damage, this is your last warning : if that reload animation if not changed within 48 hours, I’ll teabag the President ! Over.

I don’t know how I feel about it, I didn’t like the old one as it was way too fast, but this one feels way too slow and robotic.

It’s the spinning that looks especially off. Was that animation rework actually signaled in the patch notes ?

It’s been very interesting to read all the comments regarding this change including the poll thread, which actually has the new version in the lead, but, I would obviously prefer everyone to like it so I will definitely be having another look at this.

I wholeheartedly agree with everything you said.
old was more natural and didn’t really obstruct the view.

New one is less natural, more clunky, the shotguns spins around in the middle of the screen, blocks the view and overall uses more screen-area than before.

I loved the old animation and, IMO, thought it the best one in the game. The new one is disappointing :frowning:

Meh, I got used to the new animation. I prefer it now. But damn, how does Fletcher run as fast as Sparks on my computer?

Not only the new animation is awful, but it MAKES NO SENSE : the merc does not put the shotgun shells in the mag’, but directly in the barrel !
