Features that DB needs.

Let’s be blunt. There’s a lot of you out there who like Dirty Bomb but haven’t quite hit the ‘love’ it. I certainly haven’t hit that point yet. Each and every one of us can see the potential for a great game. However, a lot of details are behind closed doors and a lot features are behind those same doors.

The community seems solid, level headed people. You all want a game with a specific type of game play that no other game can recreate. The memories, the passion, and the love to play it.

The real question is, what are those features that will truly put this game on the market to compete.
Personally I think a carbon copy of ET with polishing is what will give this game life. However that’s just my opinion.
List out your ideal outlook of the future of this game.

Carbon copy is not a good idea- trust me I’m a long time fan and I’ve come to realize it’s a selfishly stubborn request. I love ET and ETQW, but I already put in the hours and I’d like something new. DB has potential towards a unique MOBA and hardcore FPS blend. I’d like to see that route furthered since that’s what SD wants to do with the game. There is still a lot that can be added to the game experience though, as found in previous SD games, as long as those elements make sense in DB. Prophet’s post in another thread had a list of the more interesting game mechanics found in ET/ETQW that would be a great influence on DB (or at least finding some original replacements). The only thing keeping me from ‘loving the game’ is that it’s too generic on all levels and lacks heart. I’m a fan of any game as long as it’s done well, be it ET or Quake or CS, etc. If DB could meet those standards in terms of quality of game play and mechanics and offer me some long term appeal, then those are the vague ideals I have for the game.

Yea, it is rather selfish to make that sort of request. We really are just looking for a new good thing to sweep us up off our feet. Though we can’t really tell from the outside of the developers are super passionate about making this game successful.

So many ‘IFs’.

Another thing, which I hope won’t cripple this game in the future. Nexon. Nexon itself has this royalty to squeeze cash out of any game. Although it may be optional, I’m grinding my teeth hoping that this game doesn’t turn into something Pay2Win somehow.

I’ve been playing the game since pre-alpha and the devs are passionate about the game. Their big goal is to bring in a new audience for the game though, so if anything I think they’ve been a bit too afraid of making the game too difficult/complex that it will scare them away. If all goes well, DB will be a game that grows in game play over time so that’s where my hope is.
