Feature Reqest - 1v1 and 2v2 server

(Rosskii) #1

Hi, not sure if this is the right place for feature requests? I’d like to request a 1v1 and 2v2 server… There is always a lot of spare min-lvl servers that are empty. Would be cool if there was a 1v1 server so you could 1v1 someone. lol

bit of a server waste, don’t you think?

(Rosskii) #3

why is that a waste?

(BlackboltLW) #4

Because the game itself balanced around teamplay and class composition. It’s better on 5v5 to 8v8.

I mean imagine you’re going 1v1 or 2v2 and one of any member is a godlike Vassili or say, a camping Rhino-Aura, you won’t have a chance to retaliate.

Also hey, objective-based games aren’t good for that kind of matches.

Maybe Execution mode will but I doubt that

Servers don’t grow on trees. DB servers are paid by Splash Damage/Nexon so their players can use them. If you create servers with only two or four slots you’re essentially wasting money for 2-4 players instead of 12-14-16. That’s definitely not good for business.

Furthermore, DB’s balance is not focused on 1v1 capabilities. Some characters are supposed to be better at fighting than others. A 1v1 mode wouldn’t be balanced at all.

@Rosskii are you thinking along the lines of duel servers? i.e. 16 people could be in the server but only two would spawn and fight for x amount of time? It’s an interesting idea, something I’ve mucked about with before when it occurs randomly but it doesn’t really seem like a natural fit for DB’s gameplay

(BlackboltLW) #7

Make it like Execution-Tournament-Battle-ish, where survivors will battle another survivor :>

(Nail) #8

nope

When/If community servers become a thing I wouldn’t mind some MGE style servers (with multiple slots but separated into rooms where you spawn 1v1 with instarespawn and certain amount of lives etcetc rulesets may differ) for aimpractise and such, but as a real gamemode…nah not a fan, game doesnt work like that.

Speaking of 3v3 though is where things could get interesting, as you can cover the crucial roles that way. Sagan on Roids tried to setup a 3v3 tournament for the next weekend, is that still a thing?

Just join an empty server, ez

(Press E) #11

Yeah, this game is terrible with a low amount of players.

I’ve joined a lot of nearly empty servers hoping more will join, usually no one does and I’m either stuck camping some noob’s spawn or getting destroyed trying to plant C4 or whatever.

(BananaSlug) #12

hah, i wanted to say that :stuck_out_tongue:

(Mc1412013) #13

I would love for them to add a lan only mode to the offline mode

(KUST__LunarTM) #14

Who has that many friends nearby that play dirty bomb off one internet connection?

Who has that many friends nearby that play dirty bomb off one internet connection?[/quote]

It would be a nice function for lans.

(Rosskii) #16

yeah well considering all these empty servers are running already, I dont see how changing the teamsize on one or two would increase server costs? I was only asking for a single 1v1 server and a single 2v2 server, not a whole set. I know it would need to be in different countries to be fair, so South Eath US and EU… so thats 4… Was just an idea, beacuse you can take people on and “settle the score” lol.

Spec is also a problem, since a spec takes up a server slot. If you wanted to spec a 1v1 server you couldn’t. I am wondering if DB are gonna fix that? so people who are in a queue to join can actually watch the game? Maybe they would need to delay spec 30 seconds so people dont abuse it with comms.

LANs yeah definately would be nice, for tornies on 0 ping. but I dont think they want to give out their dedicated server files.

(Dagasawr) #17

I think db is to open to have 1v1s also its objective base which makes the game very different compared to something like quake which normal runs small maps and has no objects. also if there was only 1v1 server it would be point less to have.

LAN support would be cool but its not really needed at the moment.
