From the perspective of the mechanic and the intention behind it, its very similar.
The only major discrepancy is that self revive, and similar mechanics like spawnhosts in etqw, also serve to save traveling time across the map, whereas feigning death does not.
Personally I cant say I’m a fan of feigning death, has always been gimicky in past titles.
