I’m always saying that the first player has slight advantage in most of the maps from the very beginning (before the world-wide release). I still think that the game favors to the first player. Favela and Train station will be the top two maps with significant first player advantage.
Second player still has a lot of chance to win and the slight imbalance is acceptable. Although some player might feel frustration in Favela/Train Station when they couldn’t do anything. It would be nice to give some bonus coins to the second player.
Some might think that it is the second player who has advantage over the opponent. In that case, you can just skip your first turn when playing first to have advantage. I haven’t seen such thing much, thus I believe most of the people prefer to play first.

Good points, and coup I’m sorry if I offended you…come back!

(Sorgdragon) #24

So sick of favela. I play random but every second game is favela. People know blue wins 90 percent favela so some players only ever play favela. Why they don’t get bored is beyond me. I want a random map function that I can set “no favela”. Probably my first and last post. In my opinion players should not be allowed to use multiples of the same soldier. I have played hundreds of matches but now am getting a bit bored. This is mostly due to favela and the favela lovers.

I mean seriously I just counted in my regular 18 games I always have going (6 of each squad size) there are 8 favela matches. They are all randomly generated though 2 were also challenges from players I beat on other maps. I am used to playing 2nd as I play random maps but it is beyond a joke now. Seeya all. Think I will finish my games and then finish up playing all together

God this thread is cursed, the worst stuff comes out here!

I’m going to conceed that Favella is pretty darn tough second. I did lose going first to Jerry-Rigg recently, but I played very badly (that being said, it is possible to at least make it interesting).

As for the random problem, I play a lot of random and I agree it has some flaws. I think what would fix Sourdragon’s complaint would be if RANDOM MAP PLAYERS ARE ONLY PAIRED WITH OTHER RANDOM MAP PLAYERS. Then I think you would be less frustrated going against those knuckleheads.

Personally I used my time with them to try everything in the book and get REALLY good at going second at Favella. You can try sniping your way out, ghosting, quick melee, heavies with gus pushes, a good way to look at it is their they all all are as targets at the choke, choke them!

But you know, you can always just conceed on the first move of a favella map, no big loss.

Also, one more thing to keep you going random folk, we are talking about starting up a little random map/random squad and abilities sub league kind of thing. Beasttekker and I are already playing that way, Sandman and I do too. When the tourney is over, we will set up a topic where you can find other people to play random against.

A final thought–if you do play random, favella is cool in a way. You can bring a sniper squad almost anywhere and do fine, but not there. It, along with Old Town which is the reverse Favella, would make a random league really be interesting because your one fixed squad would have to do well in a variety of situations–would mean less multiples as well (not that I think that is a problem at all).

I agree that you weren’t up to your normal level of play. You seemed to have something else on your mind … (Congrats on the new addition). But if I remember correctly, I was sniper heavy, well, 2 Hackers with fryers.

I don’t claim to be the expert and I can be a little slow, but I have never fully understood why Favala is NOT a snipers map. Snipers make T&H kinda touchy.

CIAKGB, check your challenges.

Snipers def possiblity, but the problem is you can only dislodge from the back of the rocket zone with artillery three times. If the defence at the choke is adequate, you can find yourself bottled with no way to stop take n hold.

In our game, though, it was really your LMG Ivan that murdered me. Probably why I like this map so much, its about the only place you can bring the heavy, slow big guns up (even the Mini is playable–and a blast:)

I didn’t remember Ivan until you mentioned him. I was able to get him in good position at a good time.
You seem to be a little more focused this match . You chewed me in half in the last turn.
Still, I think our match with 6 total madams snipers neither confirms nor refutes the statement that Favela is not sniper friendly.

Except they all died…

Yes, they did. I concede.
But I reserve the right to lose with any squad on any map. So let it be written, so let it be done.

If a game is no fun I dont play
