FATE (whats the point?)

(Higgins) #1

So I downloaded fate, edited my terrain and then found out you can’t texture it. So what is the point of FATE if you can’t even texture the terrain?

(carnage) #2

you cant texture it because its not finshed. i wouldnt hold your breath for a finished version since we havent really herd much about it in a long time

(Higgins) #3

Yeah, it’s been dead for about 2 years. Guess ill have to use easygen :\

(-SSF-Sage) #4

You can edit the textures! You can modify the shader fate gives you or you can replace the original textures fate gives you. This is for exported version ofc.

(Tyrlop) #5

just texture with gtk radiant… no big deal, big time!

(Higgins) #6

Then you don’t get blending, you need to make shaders, which I’m not sure about.

(carnage) #7

yeah you could manuly texture in radient and with some alpha blend shaders. although the resolution of the mesh and the shape of it would make it quite a job to get all the alpha mod brushes into place

(Diego) #8

While Sock’s tutorial and map are really nice with individual alpha mod brushes for every vertex, you don’t need to put that much detail in them. I use big brushes to cover multiple vertexs that all need the same value.

It looks rediculous in Radient, but it compiles just the same.

using big brushes is fine but if you want to create a smooth blend over a larger distance that one brush you are going to need to fiddle about wit alpha brushes
