I understand Kronus126’s frustration.
I agree that playing with friends and forum players is a blast, but sometimes, when I can play Brink, most of them are offline or getting ready to log off. It’s my screwed up schedule but I still want to have a good time playing Brink whenever I pop my disc into the xbox.
A good Team balance system is needed for randoms to have a good time. For all the imbalanced games, I never see a team of 8 friends in a fireteam. It’s mostly 8 randoms who are too lazy to balance the game or maybe they just didn’t realize they’re playing coop campaign on easy.
From my observation, the number of people who quit an imbalanced game per night is enough to start 2 8vs8 games.
If this is Halo or COD, team balance won’t really be a problem. I just hang back and work on my K/D
But this is Brink!
The issue here is gonna be tough to be fixed.
In a perfect world, Multiplayer lobbies where people sit and wait until the game fills up would be the best option, then if people quit during the match, just sub that missing player with a bot until the next match. And we all twiddle our thumbs waiting for the match to start. Could use the same “Ready UP” logic so if a majority of the players are ready to go, the game starts. It will take quite a bit of work on SD’s side to get that implemented.
Next best would be if SD would be able to merge two games that are both uneven into a nice, even match, but I don’t see how that could be done without a major overhaul to their matchmaking code. Also, one of the games would have to be stopped mid-match to merge to the other one that’s about to start. Kind of an ugly process if you ask me.
The final, easiest option would be to scale the bots up to SUPER HARD AI if the 8 human team is walloping on the 1 human+7 bots team. Then, that 1 human at least has the chance to have fun if his bot teammates are head-shotting 100% accurate bastards.
Otherwise, we either have to play private matches or just realize that when we school some rando’s and they drop out, most likely our match is gonna be empty the rest of the time. We’ll be 8 vs 0, then a few times during the match 1 or 2 guys join, they realize the teams are uneven and drop the F out, wash rinse repeat forever.
