Fang - Tank

(poiSon-) #1

With a small amount of characters being tanks (Fragger(ish), Thunder and Rhino), another tank into the group would be better than a low hp merc.

Stats
HP - 180
Speed - 360
Speed (Exo-Skeleton) - 200

Profile
Former highly trained Spetsnaz operative, the famous triple-man-group “SOF” (Special Operative Force) which consisted of Fang, Thunder and a sniper that nobody knew about. Fang had received a special gift from Spetsnaz as a gift for serving for a long time, they put their trust in Fang. The exo-skeleton uses the best materials available out there, highly experimental armour that slows down the user greatly because of the protection. The suit is cable of stopping .50 cal bullets, however because of the force of the bullets they are still capable of damaging the user whilst also damaging the suit in the process.

Abilities
Exo-skeleton
Cooldown - (0:55 seconds)
Duration - (0:30 seconds)
The Exo-Skeleton is capable of stopping 200 HP worth of damage, any headshots will not double the damage but will rather do 1.5x damage. Melee damage and explosive damage remains the same, this means that explosives are best used to counter Fang. The reduced movement speed will make it harder for Fang to escape from an airstrike which is capable of destroying his suit almost instantly.

Weapons
Primary - AN-94, Timik and K-121

Secondary - S&W Revolver, Deagle and Caulden.
Melee - Kukri, Stilloto and Beckill.

What do you guys think about this?

@NoOne I like the idea very much. The First thing that came in my mind was Hulkbuster from the Marvel movie Avengers. So you didn’t mention how exactly the Exoskeleton will be deployed or will be put on by Fang. I would suggest it should drop from the sky and it should also have a impact damage to enemy so if you call the exo-skeleton the enemy will not come close to the armour.

So essentialy he has 380 hp, as much as Rhino and Thunder combined!!
Also he has Assault rifles, super OP.
-how slow does he move with his suite activated.
And what are the specs of the new Assault rifle?

I agree, it should come from the sky and for Fang to call it in he needs to drop a red smoke grenade which will show off his location. The game will play a short action (1st person) of Fang putting on the suit, he will put out his hand and he will put on the arm part of the exo-skeleton, he will then also put on a helmet.

That is if he does get the suit, he needs to get the suit called in and it will take approx. 10 seconds for the suit to come down after the smoke has been dropped, it is giving a warning out to the enemy team that something big is coming in.

super OP if you try to take him on a one on one situation, it’s about sticking with your team and spamming the nades against him. When you destroy his suit he will remain stationary for a few seconds and is unable to shoot back making him really easy to kill with headshots. Being well prepared for him (save nades just for him) is the best way to tackle him. He moves at 200 units of speed in the exo-skeleton, I also felt like he shouldn’t be able to wall jump if he does have the suit on. With Fang moving at such slow speeds it is really easy to hit consistent shots on him, you don’t need to be a quake pro to be able to hit him

The AN-94 is a 2-round burst weapon, the RPM is 820-30 and the headshot dmg is 30. Bullet delay is 0.06s and the magazine size is 20, a kobra sight is also on the gun. http://insurgency.wikia.com/wiki/Kobra_Sight (like that).

Thinking about this, I felt like the explosive damage will be able to do extra damage (1.5x damage, e.g. nader nade (direct) = 135). Melee damage will still remain the same. The protection that the exo-skeleton will do against the bullets against body shots should do (0.5x) and headshots (1.5x).

@Bushwanker @No_One The AN-94 is a good choice. The specs for the real gun are 1800 rpm for first 2 rounds burst fire and then full auto at 600 rpm so we can keep the rpm as it is. Range 29m. Damage I would say 17(body),34(head). 60(Casket magazine)rounds per magazine. Initial amount of magazine 3. Speed 86.5%. Just my suggestion.

Anyways my main criticism is the fact that the 200HP armor doesn’t have any clear consequences for abusing it, even though your movement speed is destroyed. This certainly is a tank but with the amount of offensive power this tank has it’s questionable to give him such powerful weaponry. On top of that assaults mostly use assault rifles anyways, so the arsenal isn’t really anything new or interesting.

You know it would be nice to have this guy use MPs instead of magnums.

Unfortunate, because I really want to like this idea. But this guy does fill a niche that doesn’t really exist in DB yet. Maybe I’d suggest that he uses MPs, has massive speed, and has two melee weapons per loadout for poops and giggles, but I don’t have many other ideas right now.

What about if he had a special automatic shotgun? His movement speed being low allows the person to get away from him as quickly as possible. And yeah thinking about it MPs would be better.

Making a character with this much HP leads to issues when healers get involved, as seen with a rhino sitting on an aura station in a public game.

More to the point ,however, burst damage within this game isn’t especially high without the head shot multiplier. If this character is shifted to have close-range weapons, they become worse at dealing with groups of enemies, but unable to chase down lone ones. It’s quite an odd spot for a character, though I admire the attempt.
